Born in Venice, he is a concert pianist. He issued a series of records in the late 70s, mixing progrock with classical music. Basso's later work has increasingly gone in the direction of contemporary classical music.

| Apoteosi Il grande disumano R Apoteosi AMS 2015 Formed in 1974 by the Idà family from Palmi, Calabria, the southernmost part of Italy. One of the few RPI bands to feature a female vocalist, Sylvana Idà. Her 14-year old brother Massimo is on keyboards, and brother Frederico is on bass.
