@Alan - yeah, I actually am so relieved I didn't get caught in that storm. I went to the Mann Music Center last night to see the orchestra play the score live to E.T. while they screened it and the wind was so odd with loads of lightning all night, but thankfully the storm didn't reach us until after we got home

@Christine, Alan, Brian - It was downright eerie and spooky as hell last night. At the E.T. live-scored screening at the Mann, the wind was swirling around in every direction, but it was also 99% humidity, so it didn't provide that much relief! I was so nervous about beating the storm on the drive home that I missed a turn! Thankfully, made it with about 45 minutes to spare

Weather has been unpredictably crazy, Big Storm in one place, but nothing a few miles away!!

This I Hate Vermont songs cracks me up. It is a request I wasn't familiar with before putting together today's program. While I do not hate Vermont, I did have a really crappy time on Church Street in Burlington, which is the really commercial chain store shopping district, with the exception of the Crow Bookstore, which is a really nice independent bookstore!

@ Lizbot I had the FM on for the Moonlight song , and the time delay between laptop and radio was perfect, like call and answer effect, abour 3 seconds time delay...

Addie, are the rules about who qualifies as a Vermonter like Downeast Maine? In Maine, even if you moved there in the late 70s & got married there, lived there for decades, etc. you are still considered From Away.

I mixed up Mass Ave and Mass Pike! Haha!

@Christine - My parents used to take us to Maine, mostly Belfast, for a week in the summers since my uncle ran a small community theatre there. Belfast, Camden and Portland ME were so nice, BUT ONE YEAR we stayed in my dad's friend's electricity-less, plumbling-less hunting cabin on Lake Pemadumcook (sp?) just under Baxter State Park, a lot farther north than we usually stayed, and someone bashed in our car's lights, probably because of our Jersey plates!

i've had people tell me you have to be 7th generation to be a "real" vermonter, @christine!

Church St looked like it could be good (closed down street to cars, street vendors etc) but... a ya was not into it. I went to a garbage can to throw something away and it got in the way of the street urchins that were busy trash picking thrown out food bags... hmmm not the best practice during this era but tough times for those without homes

@Liz: You know about living in the Fairmount section of Philly, the rules are like Australian Football...Anything Goes!!

Maple creamies were good. A creamie is a soft serve ice cream i learned. Maple modifier means they add maple syrup right into the soft serve. Good. Kinda like honey ice cream. It was not overly maple where we tried one at least

@Rob - well, these days I'm sticking to mainly outdoor shows! I have a few coming up - Sleater-Kinney with Wilco at the Mann this weekend, King Crimson the day after Labor Day, also at The Mann, and an Alarm Will Sound show at Morris Arboretum in September!

It was quite amusing to hear Strum and Thrum on a bunch of shows in the same week, starting with Readie who played like 3 songs in a row. That was the first time I had heard of the comp. Now it's in the car cd player

I was just talking to Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey of Talulah Gosh/Heavenly/Tender Trap/Catenary Wires a couple of days ago for an interview I'm recording of them for my show (will announce air date soon!) and they talked about lifting the name "Talulah Gosh" from Clare, which was originally going to be her stage name!

@Ambrose - The crazy thing is, all these years later Clare Grogan is writing children's books featuring a character named Talulah Gosh!

Only other time I saw something like that was after I'd been up three days no sleep for my brother's traditional multiple-day Indian wedding (his wife is from Chennai) followed by a transatlantic flight the next morning I stayed up all night for. Got to Madrid, wanted to sleep, but my friend there insisted we go out to dinner, to of all places, an Indian restaurant and I hallucinated a toy train set circling the table!
