Happy Mondays! (figuratively)

Jigs! Love Nicky Hopkins' sense of humor in his playing. Fun. Had a great cassette back in day w Nicky Hopkins playing in Jerry Garcia solo band on New Year's eve show 1975-76. He played a piano instrumental every 2-3 songs. Some stage patter here and there. Bob Weir sat in later in the set. Must have been a hoot

So glad you are going to play something from the Lee Morgan multi cd set. Great historic recording.

Love the original LIGHTHOUSE LP, one long tune on each side.

Watts will make another appearance on the show before it is through....

Great personnel on this Zorn. Lively piece. Sounds like "White Bird" meets "In a Silent Way".

Zorn's output and the high quality is ridiculous.

Spent some time in a studio this week observing Oliver Lake while he mixed a record....

Wow a genius at work.Where was studio?

Ardmore, a collaboration with Sonic Liberation Front, co-produced by the guy behind The Philadelphia Experiment.

No joke about Lake being a genius, watching him listen to a chunk of music and then having very precise measurements and judgements, obviously in the presence of a master.

The record includes a small vocal group that he arranged too, just gorgeous

Got him to talk a little about Geri Allen and Julius Hemphill...

I had the pleasure see him perform in Princeton nj.with sonic liberation front not that long ago.

This album is going to be all Lake compositions, and he does two very moving poems He smiled when I told him I had been listening to his MATADOR OF 1ST & 1ST album, a great spoken word record he made in '97.

Listening to Alcorn's steel is reminding me how much I've enjoyed the just-out Andrew Cyrille record on ECM, with Frissell and David Virelles, THE NEWS

The NYorker piece on Gendel and Wilkes really made it sound like they've created a big buzz but when I went looking for the buzz/write-ups and all, it didn't seem quite so big. Not that I haven't enjoyed the records....

I thought the Haasan Ali release would generate more buzz but the only ones seemed to notice were Dan Me and Jerry Gordon.

Thanks, I can honestly say, I'm as excited as ever to contribute a few weekly hours to WPRB....

Yes, i was on a pirate station PB&J for a while and then at the late-lamented KUSF, last I heard, a Christian station....

We gave San Fran Les keiter and Jeffrey Leonard .wr got Dan Buskirk and Lee paris.

I was once on stage in S.F. hosting a poetry reading when I guy interrupted to ask if I was the radio guys. Turns out he still had tapes of my old Philly late night radio shows...

Ya never know who's listening....

Yes, I was the overnight guy, midnight to four, five nights a week for a stretch, was it called

..."Beat Planet?"

That was 90-91. in 2000-2001 I was the 8pm - 11pm guy for a stretch as well. The week they let me (and all the part-time) go, I called PRB, and the rest is history...
