When Hollywood Palace guest-host Dean Martin ridiculed the Stones after they played "I Just Want to Make Love to You", did he recognize it as an old American blues song?

It was June 1964, the Stones’ first American mini-tour. The Hollywood Palace might have been their first US TV appearance, though they appeared on the Michael Douglas Show around the same time. The “generation gap” was very evident that night as Dean rolled his eyes at the group’s performance and joked about their freakish hirsute appearance. Two months later, when the “Another Side of Bob Dylan” album came out, Dylan wrote on its back cover that Dino should apologize to them.

Mike Douglas show was pretty good. He showed respect to performers on his show.

I heard that Dylan called Dean Martin each year on his birthday from 1964 until his death in 1995 to demand an apology. Since we're starting rumors.

They replaced him with an actor, just like they did Paul McCartney before Abbey Road.

The new film, Respect, is not a doc but a biopic. There was a good doc called "Amazing Grace" a few years ago with some old footage. I don't know much about Erma and Carolyn!
