And my oh MY! I was just educating myself about Marlena Shaw, and saw that she recorded two albums with the great (indeed, very great) jazz bandleader, composer, sax and trumpet player Benny Carter (who was notably a visiting artist/instructor at Princeton University in the 1990s). She was a guest vocalist on the Benny Carter Songbook, vols 1 and 2 (1996 & '97). That's very impressive!

That WWWOB on WDAS station every Sunday night plays the best from the 60s - 90s like Gladys Knight, The Chi Lites, Whisperers, Patrice Rushen, Blue Magic, Phyllis Hyman, Teddy Pendegrass, The Supremes and countless others! Hence some of the old school songs you played, gracuously reminds me of that.

K-Tel would repackage Top 40 radio hits from the 1950s and '60s into mighty nostalgia LPs and shill them via commercials on late night local TV stations. (How many wonderfully cheesy old monster movies did I watch on late nite shows out of NYC and Philly that were sponsored by K-Tel?!!)

@Christine, it is a mixed bag. I can tell you I played Mungo Jerry, Nazareth, Mud, Suzi Quatro, and a few more songs a whole lot and skipped over quite a few.

With 20 tracks per LP, K-tel records were seriously audiophile quality! :) If 16rpm were more common, they coulda crammed 40 tracks on!
