a pipe burst in my house today! flooding! yay!
Christine 🦉 5:00:55 PM
Oh no!
Christine 🦉 5:01:31 PM
That sucks, @Lizbot. Is everyone OK?
George Korein 5:03:17 PM
Everyone's OK
Brian D 5:03:30 PM
Sorry to hear Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 5:03:42 PM
Hi Christine! Yeah, I am sooooooooo discombobulated. I've been waiting on this plumber all day
Lizbot (host) 5:03:49 PM
Hi Brian!
George Korein 5:03:57 PM
It's just a valve popped off a line to a sink, and it's been dripping rapidly while emitting a fine spray
George Korein 5:04:45 PM
but nothing is destroyed, just some cardboard
Lizbot (host) 5:04:51 PM
Yeah, everything's okay! I'm just bummed this wasn't fixed yet! It's filled 2 or 3 bucket-loads of water and made nice big puddle in the back bathroom but thankfully the water didn't reach anything important
Christine 🦉 5:04:56 PM
Egad. Ihope the plumber gets there tout suite!
DSM 5:05:16 PM
Sorry guys. You can cut off the water to the house at the main valve shut off if you don't need water anywhere else at the moment?
Rob from Maryland 5:05:41 PM
Good afternoon everyone!
George Korein 5:05:56 PM
Jonathan is Orion's Fitoussiary
Lizbot (host) 5:06:06 PM
@Christine & Brian - Yeah, this is a guy I haven't used in many years cuz my usual guy wasn't available. Dude is driving in 5 o'clock traffic after doing several other jobs but he's on his way, so I'm listening for him! You might hear occasional plumber talking in the background later!
Rob from Maryland 5:06:10 PM
And yikes, Lizbot! I hope the plumber arrives soon and that there's not much damage
Lizbot (host) 5:06:51 PM
Hi DSM! Yeah, the leak it's gushing so quickly that we need to do that just yet. The hot water valve actually popped right off in the night!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:07 PM
Hi Rob!
Rob from Maryland 5:07:11 PM
That's good advice, DSM. We did that one long weekend once, also in the winter
Rob from Maryland 5:07:29 PM
But ymmv
Lizbot (host) 5:07:59 PM
@ROb - yeah, I just hate when there's something hanging over my head before the show starts! Was hoping he'd get here before 5.
Rob from Maryland 5:08:10 PM
Hi Lizbot! I'm listening to your show b/c the live video webcast is only M W F now
George Korein 5:08:21 PM
Maria Rossi and the Rossi Posse
Lizbot (host) 5:08:43 PM
I AM worried about the extreme cold this coming weekend! This hot water supply line goes to the worst insulated room in the house, and there is no heat in that room!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:48 PM
haha, George!
Christine 🦉 5:09:47 PM
I heard a possible Nor'Easter might arrive over the weekend.
George Korein 5:10:06 PM
Maria... I just met a Rossi named Maria... Her posse goes back to Pangaea
Lizbot (host) 5:10:26 PM
@George - I guess "the Rossi Posse" is her electronic devices!
George Korein 5:10:39 PM
Nor'Beaker
Lizbot (host) 5:10:44 PM
@Christine - uhghhhh, nooooo! This house is too old and I am unprepared!
Christine 🦉 5:10:48 PM
Maria Rossi and her asti spumanti 🍾
Rob from Maryland 5:10:50 PM
@Lizbot, I just checked the weather service forecast for Princeton proper. It's going to be really cold. Here it's "only" going down to 18 on Saturday morning
Rob from Maryland 5:12:13 PM
The noreaster would bring snow changing to rain, for the Princeton area at least, starting Sunday afternoon or evening
Lizbot (host) 5:13:32 PM
@ROb - I know...ughhhhhh. 2/3 of my household has cold air-triggered asthma and the pipes in that back bathroom have a long history of freezing when it gets very cold. Even when it gets a lot less cold than this coming weekend's forecast. The back room and bathroom were built in a crazy way that made it basically impossible to insulate the pipes well. Someone did a hack job when adding these on some time in the mid-century
Lizbot (host) 5:14:02 PM
@Christine - hahaha! Maria Rossi toasts to weirdo music!
Rob from Maryland 5:14:07 PM
That's not good at all Lizbot.
Lizbot (host) 5:14:45 PM
@George - a Nor'Beaker is what you can expect when you insult my lovely and perfect bird. He will reign down some beaky terror on you. Death from Above!
Christine 🦉 5:16:35 PM
Never insult the birds...
Lizbot (host) 5:16:36 PM
We did the modifications that were possible years ago after a very bad flooding where both rooms were inundated to the point of having to replace all flooring, drywall, and the washer and dryer. We haven't had a flooding that bad since, but these pipes do freeze way too often.
Lizbot (host) 5:16:52 PM
@Christone - EXACTLY! Has Hitchcock taught him NOTHING?!
Christine 🦉 5:17:31 PM
Christone 🎶 lol
DSM 5:18:25 PM
Lizbot still managing to play some solid jams despite a burst and spewing pipe, that deserves a WPRB medal of radio valor
Lizbot (host) 5:18:49 PM
I like the idea of starting off with a buncha odd experimental instrumentals and then the first vocals you hear are Donovan, so that is what happened today!
Christine 🦉 5:18:52 PM
@DSM, agree 🏆
Lizbot (host) 5:19:04 PM
THanks, DSM! I appreciate that!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:03 PM
I just wish we'd gotten a hold of the plumber sooner! Much be a lot of burst pipes in the area!
Christine 🦉 5:20:33 PM
Like when Jon Solomon moved his broadcast into the basement during his show. Hurricane Ida and tornadoes!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:59 PM
Playing Raymond Scott after having a discussion with Dan Ruccia in Deirdre's chat yesterday about our favorite Raymond Scott pieces and how his early hit "Powerhouse" blew my mind when I heard it in a Looney Toons as a little kid
Lizbot (host) 5:22:08 PM
@Christine - Oh, I remember that Jon episode well! I was tuned in the entire time! Thankfully nothing quite as extreme going on here at the moment!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:35 PM
@Christine - My crazy weather during my show story - well, I have a few from over the years! - but the most recent was last summer when a massive tree fell over onto the power lines directly in front of my house and killed my live broadcast 45 minutes in and of course there was no power here until the wee hours of the morning
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:23:38 PM
Whenever I get pipe leaks, it always seems to be late evening before a major holiday.
Rob from Maryland 5:23:39 PM
@Lizbot, you've had such excitement: these pipes, and a tree or two almost hitting your house
Lizbot (host) 5:23:51 PM
Hi Dave! Yeah, that sucks
jimbeaux 5:23:55 PM
Call Mario & Luigi!🔧
jimbeaux 5:24:22 PM
They go INSIDE the pipes!
Christine 🦉 5:24:26 PM
Didn't Deirdre Dionysiac play some Raymond Scott yesterday, or was that another musician doing an homage to Raymond Scott?
Lizbot (host) 5:24:37 PM
Hi jimbeaux! haha, I wish! and my retooled Nintendo seems to be dying to boot!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:48 PM
@jimbeaux - handy for clogs!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:20 PM
@jimbeaux- bonus service: they remove all poisonous mushrooms from the premises
Christine 🦉 5:26:02 PM
@Lizbot, it's not too late to call the Lady in the Radiator...

"Twas indeed "The Toy Trumpet" by Raymond Scott on Deirdre's show.
Lizbot (host) 5:26:31 PM
@Christine - That was! That's when Dan Ruccia from Tomorrow Is an Octopus and I were talking about our favorite Raymond Scott pieces. Deirdre played one of my favorites of his early trad jazz era work yesterday: The Toy Trumpet

PLUMBER IS HERE!
George Korein 5:27:42 PM
ok
Christine 🦉 5:28:03 PM
🙌
Lizbot (host) 5:28:26 PM
@George - Never insult a bird! Watch your back! A beaking is a'coming
Rob from Maryland 5:29:27 PM
George, your bandcamp piece is quite amusing! It works with the music.
Rob from Maryland 5:29:38 PM
And yay plumber
Lizbot (host) 5:31:27 PM
@Dave the Obscure - Ha! Nah, I win cuz I'm typing while doing a live show and listening for the plumber!
Christine 🦉 5:32:21 PM
Insult a bird, invite The BEAKENING.
Lizbot (host) 5:32:52 PM
ugh, I'm mad about that little delay between young marble giants and Hyman!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:03 PM
Nyman! Thanks auto-correct!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:56 PM
@DTO & Christine - I was talking in Deirdre's chat yesterday about my favorite Raymond Scott pieces and Oil Gusher, Toy Trumpet and Powerhouse are the tops for me of his pre-electronic work.
Lizbot (host) 5:34:52 PM
@Christine - yeah, I gotta make The BEAKENING to instill in George the Fear of BIRD. Maybe The Christones can provide the soundtrack!
George Korein 5:35:32 PM
Thanks Rob! I am personally am shocked that the WhoSampled site does not report anyone sampling One More Red Nightmare, which has umpteen drum breaks. https://www.whosampled.com/King-Crimson/One-More-Red-Nightmare/
Lizbot (host) 5:36:13 PM
Here's one for this cold-ass weather, breaking my house and all
George Korein 5:37:24 PM
I had the idea to sample it for hip hop back in 2007 and then I basically didn't make any rap stuff (at least not silly and/or sample-based) for years and years
Lizbot (host) 5:37:43 PM
The OTHER not as recent extreme weather event that happened during a double-long Doubleplusgood was when I was doing a 6-hour mini-marathon on Halloween night a couple years ago and a TORNADO rolled through Princeton and I had to hole up in the studio until 3 am!
George Korein 5:37:52 PM
Of course I probably have no proof of having the idea in 2007
Christine 🦉 5:37:53 PM
So Cold The Night: apropos!
Lizbot (host) 5:38:29 PM
@Christine - Rather than do a whole Winter Kills cold theme like I usually do once per winter, I decided to just pepper in some cold songs today
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:38:32 PM
Agreed, Lizbot, you certainly won with all the multitasking.

Lizbot (host) 5:42:20 PM
@Christine - I don't have Kanopy, is it free?

Rob from Maryland 5:42:48 PM
@Addie, that sucks
Lizbot (host) 5:43:18 PM
@Addie - oof! My car battery usually dies once per winter. I am expecting that this weekend when the weather in Philly dips to 9!
Rob from Maryland 5:43:35 PM
Hi Christine!
Christine 🦉 5:43:37 PM
My library offers Kanopy access and 5 free credits a month, so I've been watching the older Peter Greenaway films. Most libraries offer Kanopy access with your Library card.

Rob from Maryland 5:54:17 PM
@George, White-lipped or Collared Peccary?

Is there a hologram of a white robed woman with great spiral braids emanating from the computer? I only hope. ..
Lizbot (host) 6:04:25 PM
@christine - huh
Rob from Maryland 6:04:47 PM
Great Spiral Braids was a hit at the Hair-a-palooza festival last year
Lizbot (host) 6:04:54 PM
I was actually planning on going on mic after that Ulysses ID before this song but my mic is frozen
Lizbot (host) 6:05:03 PM
@ROb - nooo! Damn this cold!
Rob from Maryland 6:05:58 PM
@Lizbot, I hope you can thaw your microphone.
Lizbot (host) 6:06:19 PM
okay, I'm still probably going to have to restart this entire system in order to get the mic to work. I'll wait to see if the song I have cued up will play without glitches first
Christine 🦉 6:06:34 PM

Rob from Maryland 6:06:43 PM

Also, what Christine just said
Lizbot (host) 6:07:05 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:07:55 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:08:59 PM

Mary Jones 6:17:17 PM

Eis bar with us...
roberto creamero 6:23:26 PM
LOL. This reminds me of when I'd play the same song on a juke box at a bar like ten times and just watch the expressions change.
Lizbot (host) 6:23:40 PM
okay - is penguin cafe orchestra (piano music) playing now??
DSM 6:23:51 PM

Addie Plum 6:23:59 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:25:34 PM
OK, I do NOT know what caused that! It's craziness here with the busted leaking pipe and the computer on the fritz!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:42 PM
It COULD happen again tonight.
DSM 6:26:23 PM
Head bob activated!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:33 PM
@pat beck- ha! Well I like both so the sum total could be good....except I associate that track with panic and all systems down!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:43 PM
Ryuichi Sakamoto will save us!
Brian D 6:26:50 PM
like DSM i beered with you. Might have helped?
George Korein 6:27:17 PM
o so polar, like Po-cat
Christine 🦉 6:27:37 PM
Let's give a beer to Ryuichi Sakamoto as an offering
Lizbot (host) 6:28:08 PM
@Brian D & DSM - maybe a bär with a beer could have helped over here. I watched a 26 year-old polar bear celebrate its birthday by whacking a barrel and rolling in ice earlier today
Lizbot (host) 6:28:39 PM
I could not help but hear eisbär in my head all the while
DSM 6:28:42 PM
That's how I celebrated my last birthday too
Brian D 6:28:53 PM
I I would would like like to to be be a a bi polar bear
Lizbot (host) 6:29:19 PM
@DSM - ha!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:46 PM
@Brian D - That is the mood of this cold and unpredictable show today!
Brian D 6:29:57 PM
Yo yo quisiera quisiera ser ser un un osa bi-polar
DSM 6:30:04 PM
Good to hear some Momus outta nowhere!
Lizbot (host) 6:30:09 PM
@Christine - Id be honored to have a beer with Ryuichi Sakamoto
Brian D 6:30:50 PM
With a single plum floating in the beer... on a cherry blossom
Lizbot (host) 6:31:34 PM
@Brian D - I want just the plum and cherry blossom in hot water and no beer...wait, I guess that's just tea. I want Tea with Ryuichi. A new program I'd watch
Lizbot (host) 6:32:03 PM
@DSM - Momus coming to you outta a morass of doom funk
Brian D 6:33:51 PM
A mass of momus in a morass with momoa
Lizbot (host) 6:33:53 PM
too bad the computer failure didn't happen during this longer Schnellertollermeier track so you'd only miss ONE song and not a bunch. I prob still would've played it though, it captures the frantic mood of this crazy day
Lizbot (host) 6:35:16 PM
@Brian D - A mass of momus in a morass with momoa and Ferdinand Pessoa!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:34 PM
Jason Vs Ferdinand: SHOWDOWN
Christine 🦉 6:35:37 PM
This mood tracks perfectly...!
Lizbot (host) 6:36:07 PM
And I mean Jason Voorhees Vs. Ferdinand the Bull
Lizbot (host) 6:36:45 PM
That is the main event. Jason Momoa vs. Ferdinand Pessoa tag-teaming with Momus is the opener
Lizbot (host) 6:37:04 PM
WELL, on the PLUS SIDE: THE PIPE IS FIXED!
Lizbot (host) 6:37:24 PM
Maybe next week a pipe will burst ON my laptop
Brian D 6:38:06 PM
Papa Ochoa va a Lisboa con Momoa y Pessoa and I don't even know-a
Lizbot (host) 6:38:57 PM
@Brian D - yeah, that's the sorta mayhem we like around here
DSM 6:39:39 PM
I'm glad this song didn't get skipped this is great.
Lizbot (host) 6:40:28 PM
this has got that real intro vibe, like something's about to happen
Lizbot (host) 6:40:33 PM
and there it is
Lizbot (host) 6:40:52 PM
@DSM - Yeah, I'll just chopped some songs off the end. I def wanted to play this one
Lizbot (host) 6:41:26 PM
See I jinxed myself by talking in the chat today about how my show got interrupted last summer when a tree fell on my power lines just outside the house
Rob from Maryland 6:42:16 PM
Hooray for the pipe!
Christine 🦉 6:42:32 PM
It definitely has energy and tension building...
DSM 6:43:47 PM
Jason Voorhees isn't in this band is he?
Lizbot (host) 6:44:29 PM
@DSM - I believe he played a show with Michael Myers somewhere between Haddonfield and Voorhees, NJ...
Lizbot (host) 6:44:53 PM
@Rob - That pipe had better get it's act together and not pull that again!
DSM 6:45:04 PM
Ha!
Brian D 6:49:54 PM
C'est ne pas une pipe. La pipe est morte. Vive la pipe.
George Korein 6:50:09 PM
Momus and Momoa and a bonus: a jerboa
Lizbot (host) 6:50:22 PM
@George - oooh, little but TUFF
Christine 🦉 6:50:25 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:51:27 PM
@Brian D - haha! mort au la pipe!
George Korein 6:51:27 PM

Brian D 6:51:28 PM
Collaborations Don't Work on Pipes
Lizbot (host) 6:51:38 PM
@George - v. good
Lizbot (host) 6:53:19 PM
@Brian D - I seem to recall that split 7": extreme cold + pipe. It was bursting all over the scene
uno clay 6:54:20 PM
Lizbot = great show, but also triggers positive associations, "its friday tomorrow hooray i know this because i hear lizbot"
Lizbot (host) 6:55:04 PM
Hi uno! Glad to hear it! I am happy to be associated with weekend anticipation!
George Korein 6:55:36 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:56:18 PM
@George - one could say so, yes
George Korein 6:56:46 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:56:56 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:06:05 PM

DSM 7:06:17 PM

DSM 7:06:49 PM
And what a great show despite all the chaos tonight! I'm off to eat the din din, but thanks and have a great night Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:54 PM
@DSM - Remind you of a certain Steve Martin / John Candy movie?
Lizbot (host) 7:07:05 PM
'night DSM! Thx for hanging!
DSM 7:07:28 PM
Oh my yes! Did you play this a few weeks back?
Addie Plum 7:07:58 PM
I do love this one! Great music to write a cover letter by (which is what I’m working on at the moment).
DSM 7:08:10 PM
I think I always assume this is Lindsey Buckingham!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:39 PM
@Christine - We have George to thank for that ID because he was walking around listening to the audiobook for Love in the Time of Cholera and I love that bit of course! And I'm a fan of that narrator's voice
Bob Borowsky 7:09:04 PM
Just tuning in tonight and just saw that Ronnie Spector passed... Such a great voice and talent!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:14 PM
@Addie - Glad to help! It will keep you chugging along!
Christine 🦉 7:09:34 PM

Is this from Donkey Kong?
Lizbot (host) 7:11:00 PM
Hi Bob! I love Ronnie Spector and was planning on playing some Ronettes and solo stuff tonight but then Mike Lupica did a little tribute last night and played some of my favorites, so I will leave it to him. I might sneak one in later though
Lizbot (host) 7:12:34 PM
@Dave -- May as well be!
Bob Borowsky 7:13:02 PM
Thanks, Liz! I just saw the news now but the obit is dated yesterday.
Lizbot (host) 7:13:51 PM
@Bob - Yeah, I posted an obit on my FB page yesterday and then proceeded to have a Ronnie-thon leading up to Mike's tribute. So sad. At least she got to outlive Phil
Lizbot (host) 7:14:27 PM
yes this is a Turkish Moody Blues cover
Addie Plum 7:14:49 PM
Omg.
Lizbot (host) 7:17:02 PM
oooooh here we go. I resist the urge to play this often. Its been years
Lizbot (host) 7:17:15 PM
this song is too good for this world
Andy Wing 7:17:15 PM
Mavi Isiklar eat your heart out??
Lizbot (host) 7:17:22 PM

Christine 🦉 7:19:10 PM
What better to follow a Turkish Moody Blues cover?
Lizbot (host) 7:19:47 PM
@Christine - I needed a 7 pm pick-me-up in the form of psych sitar
Addie Plum 7:25:48 PM
Loooove this one.
Lizbot (host) 7:27:27 PM
@Addie - Something about the stark beauty and darkness of the Chameleons makes me always want to hear them in wintertime
Addie Plum 7:29:12 PM
Ooh yeah, you hit the nail on the head! It’s excellent winter music.
Lizbot (host) 7:29:22 PM
did anyone hear a weird interruption just then?
Andy Wing 7:29:38 PM
This may have inspired David Lynch's "The Pink Room"?
Lizbot (host) 7:30:33 PM
@Andy - hmmmm, I could see that!
Christine 🦉 7:32:26 PM
I didn't hear an interruption, but I may have missed it, @Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 7:32:49 PM
thx, christine!
Ambrose Hughes 7:35:18 PM
Hi Lizbot, pardon my interruption!
Christine 🦉 7:36:48 PM

Howzit going, Roffle?
Ambrose Hughes 7:43:23 PM
Hi Roffle and all in the chat btw!
Lizbot (host) 7:43:24 PM
@Christine - Truly an amazing person and incredible voice.
Roffle... 7:44:01 PM
Napped out and missed way too much of the show... :(
Roffle... 7:44:59 PM
But very cool to wake up to!
Ambrose Hughes 7:45:20 PM
Ronnie Spector was that special kind of singer. R.I.P.
Roffle... 7:47:21 PM
Wildwood waves cresting! lol
Lizbot (host) 7:50:57 PM
@ROffle - Happy to be the soundtrack of your napping and waking state.
Roffle... 7:52:03 PM
Thanks Liz - I appreciate a solid good soundtrack to this crazy!
Lizbot (host) 7:52:49 PM
@Roffle - Well, you missed a burst pipe and a laptop meltdown while you napped!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:06 PM
@Roffle - So "crazy" does about sum it up!
Rob from Maryland 7:53:36 PM
Tonight's show was nice, Lizbot, with all that music you piped in. Stay warm and dry this weekend!
Roffle... 7:53:47 PM
Liz - Sounds like a lucky miss for me, but I truly hope all is well.
Lizbot (host) 7:55:21 PM
@Roffle - Well, we heard some of WPRB's patented "doom funk" while the transmission was interrupted for the first time in a while on this program. And before that, a hot water supply line in my house burst and spewed water everywhere! So that was fun! Emergency plumber came DURING my show!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:28 PM
It's all fixed now!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:33 PM
I guess for anyone not familiar with Art Bears- don't know if that's the case with anyone here - this is an odd intro, but I love this epic. I love Dagmar Krause!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:02 PM
Thanks, Rob! Stay warm in Maryland, though you won't get our arctic chill!
Roffle... 7:57:07 PM
Anyway, thanks for the lovey things I actually got to hear full on. Always appreciated and always welcome. Have a wonderful night.
Christine 🦉 7:57:33 PM
Grace under pressure, and music from chaos tonight! Thanks, Lizbot 🤖 What a playlist!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:59 PM
Thx Christine! Glad you and all you chatters were along for the ride!
Ambrose Hughes 7:59:18 PM
@Lizbot, glad you had a plumber that came to the rescue and thank you for the good music!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:28 PM
@Ambrose - For real! Because my husband had to go pick up the kid and I couldn't keep running over to change full buckets capturing the water WHILE doing a live show! It would've been like an episode of I Love Lucy over here!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:12 PM
Thanks for hanging everyone! 'Til next Thursday!
Roffle... 8:01:36 PM
I Love Lucy episode! lol!
Lizbot (host) 8:02:36 PM
Yeah, literally the hot water valve knob blew clear off and across the room! Madness over here!
Lizbot (host) 8:02:56 PM
and it's not even this coming weekend's crazy low temps yet!
