Hello Hello! 2nd Doubleplusgood of the week!
ParrScream 5:01:26 PM
Hey Liz!
ParrScream 5:02:11 PM
I caught some of your show the other night but I was driving so I couldn't hop in the chat and let you know how happy I was to hear you on a Tuesday night.
Lizbot (host) 5:02:13 PM
Hello ParrScream! How's it going?
ParrScream 5:03:07 PM
It's going well. How are you doing? How have you been?
Lizbot (host) 5:03:09 PM
@ParrScream - Aw, thanks! I'm glad you caught No Dice with Lizbot!
Roffle... 5:03:13 PM
Hey Liz - My eyes are drawn to my shoes! lol
ParrScream 5:04:08 PM
I was driving my son back from soccer and I flipped on PRB and I was like "Wait.... today isn't Thursday..." :-)
Lizbot (host) 5:04:09 PM
@ParrScream - It's surreal doing two shows 1 day apart! I feel like time fast-forwarded a week! I'm good, kinda woozy but excited to do the show!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:17 PM
Hi Roffle!
Roffle... 5:05:42 PM
Coffee is our friend whilst woozy. :)
Lizbot (host) 5:05:53 PM
I love the way Gary Wilson sings "something deep in me went wrong" so cheerily!
ParrScream 5:06:39 PM
Ha ha... woozy.... How were the holidays? I feel like I haven't been on the chat since before Christmas.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:17 PM
@Roffle - I wish, but I'm super caffeine-sensitive! I love coffee, but one cup keeps me up for days! I once in a blue moon get half caf, but even that messes me up too much. It's more like I'm worried I'm coming down with something kind of wooziness...ilke a malaise. Argh!
Roffle... 5:07:28 PM
Love the vibraphone feel here.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:48 PM
@Roffle - Yes! Vibraphone is great on that song!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:22 PM
@Roffle - I played another song with great vibraphone - TMBG's Sleepwalkers - on Tuesday. Love a good vibraphone!
Roffle... 5:09:01 PM
Hey, no caffeine is good! So is Vibraphone!
Roffle... 5:10:29 PM
Gentle Giant is what my friend's big brother played. lol
Lizbot (host) 5:11:05 PM
@ParrScream - Yeah, it seems like it's been since Christmas! I had great holidays, I hope you did too! I managed to avoid getting sick, hung out with family friends I hadn't seen in a long time in the backyard because it was so mild out on Christmas Day! Then that week between Christmas and NYE I basically got nothing done
mark 5:12:34 PM
hi lizbot long time since I’ve been in your chat hoping the gentle giant presages more prog :)
Lizbot (host) 5:13:07 PM
@Roffle - I love this album! My first impression of Gentle Giant as a kid was that it was kinda going for a Renaissance Fair vibe because the only tracks I'd heard sounded like that, but then I dug deeper and this album rips. I love keyboard heavy prog. It gets kinda gnarly while also being virtuosic and crisp
ParrScream 5:13:11 PM
@Liz - So glad to hear it! Our Christmas was a lot of fun but also crazy - as is expected with 4 kids under the age of 12. I was fortunate that my boss pretty much made me take off the week between Christmas and New Years so I also got nothing done besides a lot of time with the kids and relaxing.
Lizbot (host) 5:13:21 PM
Hi Mark! Wow, it's been a while!! How have you been?!
Roffle... 5:13:30 PM
"Nothing done" is going to be a tune on an LP soon... lol
mark 5:14:42 PM
yeah just returned to the chats with the sonic bloom earlier today forgot how fun they are :) !!
ParrScream 5:15:25 PM
Was this version of "Tainted Love' in Last Night in Soho'?
Lizbot (host) 5:15:51 PM
@ParrScream - I'm glad you got some rest that week, although I'm not sure how much is possible with all the kids home for holiday break! I didn't have a show that week because Marvin Rosen's marathon was on a Thursday. I got in a lot of hanging out time with my daughter!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:09 PM
@ParrScream - I don't know, but this is the original Tainted Love
Captain Ahab 5:16:25 PM
hi Lizbot! hi chat!
Lizbot (host) 5:16:30 PM
Soft Cell version from '81 was a cover of the original I just played
Lizbot (host) 5:16:38 PM
Hi Captain Ahab!
mark 5:16:54 PM
i do have a question: the number station wprb ID was that a new creation?
ParrScream 5:17:21 PM
Yep! I love that original version.... I did know that 'Tainted Love' was an older song before Soft Cell covered it but what 'Last Night in Soho' taught me that 'Got My Mind Set on You' by George Harrsion was a cover! I had no idea!
ParrScream 5:17:45 PM
Hi Captain!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:03 PM
@Mark - Which one?? How does that ID go?
ParrScream 5:19:03 PM
'Last Night in Soho' ALSO taught me that 'Always Something There to Remind Me' by Naked Eyes is a cover.
Brian D 5:20:11 PM
Hello y'all
mark 5:20:13 PM
it’s utterly fantastic!! Heard it for first time last week & can be found on you tube It’s a take off on the mysterious Cold War era number stations
Esoterica 5:21:25 PM
hi there
Lizbot (host) 5:21:26 PM
@ParrScream - Huh! I know Harrison got sued for copyright infringement for making My Sweet Love way too similar to The Chiffons song He's So Fine
Roffle... 5:21:47 PM
If I woke up in 1972, I would think this was a new Beatles tune.
Lizbot (host) 5:22:02 PM
Hi Brian D! Tuesday+Thursday Chat Times! DoubleplusChat!
Lizbot (host) 5:22:08 PM
Hi Esoterica!!
Brian D 5:22:49 PM
So that is you the Mark that is Mark! Welcome back! Deirdre did a salute to "Number Stations "sometime in the past year or so. Interesting stuff
mark 5:23:38 PM
if I’m reading things right it was created by fran blanche a Philadelphia electronics wizard tho warning : her you tube channel is highly addicting:)
Roffle... 5:24:15 PM
Hey, hey, no pushing or shoving to get in the record vaults. lol
Lizbot (host) 5:24:26 PM
@mark - re: yr 1st question - there will be more prog later in the program and some mathrock peppered throughout
ParrScream 5:24:27 PM
@Liz - the original 'Got My Mind Set on You' is amazing. I think I listend to it 1,000 times in a row the next day after seeing that movie.
Lizbot (host) 5:24:52 PM
@ParrScream - That is a good song, and it gets stuck in my head, but in a good way!
Lizbot (host) 5:25:52 PM
@Mark - I'm acquainted with Fran and her YouTube page and IDs. Good stuff!
Brian D 5:26:02 PM
Got my Mind Set on You was a Jerry Gordon that's not the original .... entry a few weeks/ months back. I read about that being a cover sometime in the internet era but had no idea back in the late 80s when Bee-attle George covered it. He did a fine job. Original is interesting. Soulful almost gospel like vocal line
ParrScream 5:26:03 PM
Speaking of movies.,,, Liz, have you seen The French Dispatch yet?
mark 5:26:31 PM
hi brianD yes the number stations r fascinating & if you haven’t heard thisID it’s on you tube & fran Blanche is equally brilliant
ParrScream 5:27:00 PM
Yes Brian... I was listening to that show! I knew we were discussing it on one of the chats recently... thanks for reminding me!
Lizbot (host) 5:27:32 PM
@ParrScream - I saw French Dispatch the night it came out with my 13 year-old who also love Wes Anderson. It wasn't my fav WA movie, but I enjoyed it. My kid wasn't as into it. It was very jam-packed, like Grand Budapest Hotel, but more so!
mark 5:27:49 PM
btw loved the og Gloria jones tainted love
Brian D 5:28:10 PM
We heard the Earl Scruggs banjo instruction station id with his great pronunciation of "fangers"the other day. Had not heard since 2019
Roffle... 5:28:40 PM
The Gothic Archies felt like Sisters of Mercy lite. Funny to me.
ParrScream 5:28:48 PM
@Liz - Aw, darn it! My best friend who is also a huge Wes fan (as am I) said he thought it was just ok. I still haven't seen it! :-( And can I just say that it is awesome that your 13 year old is a Wes Anderson fan?!?!?!
Lizbot (host) 5:29:18 PM
@Mark - Back in the early 2000s when I did a recurring live DJ night at Silk City under its original ownership I would play a set of 80s no wave and new wave and Soft Cell was enjoying a revival in interest with young adults right then, so I always slipped in the original Gloria Jones Tainted Love
Lizbot (host) 5:30:06 PM
@ParrScream - I still think it's 100% worth seeing! The bar is high for him!
Brian D 5:30:07 PM
Loved French Dispatch! I recommend streaming and watching it several times over a day or 2. So many Easter eggs in that. Gotta get the soundtrack now
mark 5:31:20 PM
yes !! that’s how I got into all her great stuff it’s a shame the tragedy of the marc bolan car crash :(
Lizbot (host) 5:31:38 PM
@ParrScream - My kid's 1st Wes Anderson experience was Fantastic Mr. Fox, but her favorites are Moonrise Kingdom and Rushmore, much like me! I got her a large theater marquee Moonrise Kingdom poster and framed it for Christmas last year. Rushmore was the first one that really clicked for her
ParrScream 5:31:51 PM
Ok Liz & Brian... I am going to watch it this weekend. I NEED to. And yes, the bar is very high but I am sure I will enjoy it. Just maybe not as much as Tenenbaums or Rushmore.
Lizbot (host) 5:32:16 PM
@Mark - yup, there is that sad connection with Gloria Jones to Marc Bolan's death
Brian D 5:32:39 PM
Parr Scream it was one of my faves by him easily. A fave of past year as well overall . Just glorious color, architecture, characters. You'll love it
ParrScream 5:33:01 PM
So cool that she is into Wes. She has good taste! And that is a great Christmas present for her Liz.
Lizbot (host) 5:33:29 PM
@Brian D - Yeah, that's what I mean by it's DENSE with visual stimuli and Easter eggs and there's a LOT going on (in French Dispatch). It think it was almost overwhelming for my kid, and she also didn't get all the references
ParrScream 5:33:54 PM
@Brian - Awesome.... thanks! I am hating myself for not seeing it already. I think it is the first Wes Anderson movie since Bottle Ricket that I didn't see the first week it was out.
Lizbot (host) 5:33:59 PM
@ParrScream - And I get to look at it too!
ParrScream 5:34:04 PM
Bottle RICKET... ha ha
Roffle... 5:34:15 PM
Used to mix up Mark Bolan and Tommy Bolin all the time. RIP to both.
Brian D 5:35:00 PM
We tried to watch it while eating. No. Did not work. Then we started it over. And then next night watched the whole thing again. It helped so much. Better each time
Lizbot (host) 5:35:14 PM
@Brian D - Hattie knew who James Baldwin was, so she got the Baldwin references. I talked to her about the Paris 68 revolution. We looked up the art critic who Tilda Swinton's character is based on
ParrScream 5:36:25 PM
Now I'm jealous.... I need to ignore my family and watch it right now.
Brian D 5:36:58 PM
So much great French retro pop and new music created as homage to French pop. Wes knows his music. He plans out certain songs for films. Sometimes has to bank them in the vault and then uses them years later
Roffle... 5:37:08 PM
Wow, Giles, Giles and Fripp. Interesting connect, never heard this.
Esoterica 5:37:14 PM
love bottle rocket and French Dispatch. But I must say Rushmore and Royal Tennenbaums are my faves.
Lizbot (host) 5:37:25 PM
@Brian D - And that gallery owner character played by Adrien Brody was a real guy with a fascinating backstory
Esoterica 5:37:29 PM
great tunes, liz!
ParrScream 5:38:00 PM
@Brain - totally agree about Wes' music. It is always so perfect for his movies.
Roffle... 5:38:26 PM
@Esoterica - Just watched Royal Tennenbaums last week. My kinda movie.
Lizbot (host) 5:38:28 PM
@Eso, Brian D, ParrScream - Yeah, Wes Anderson has just the PERFECT sense of setting music to film and his selections are always impeccable. One of my favorite film music directors!
Brian D 5:38:38 PM
Tilda is so great. At the podium just nonchalantly shocking the square crowd there ha
ParrScream 5:38:47 PM
I think I agree with you Esoterica! Tenenbaums is definitely my favorite. but I pretty much really like all of his stuff.
Lizbot (host) 5:39:09 PM
@Esoterica- Thanks! And I am planning to show Hattie Royal Tennenbaums soonish as she hasn't seen that yet
Roffle... 5:39:13 PM
Wes Anderson is so good sometimes!
ParrScream 5:39:45 PM
I also really like Darjeeling (I know that isn't a popular opinion in some circles) because of the brothers element. Reminds me so much of my brother and best friend.
Brian D 5:39:51 PM
There's a great tribute album to Wes Anderson soundtracks "I Saved Latin ". Covers of many fave tunes from his films
Brian D 5:40:10 PM
I LOVE DARJEELING LTD!
ParrScream 5:40:16 PM
Ha! '"I Saved Latin"... I love it. I'm going to have to get it.
Lizbot (host) 5:41:21 PM
@Brian D - Oh my god, I have to check that out! PERFECT name for the comp! Ha!
Esoterica 5:41:22 PM
yes, bri, i saved latin comp is great
ParrScream 5:41:30 PM
@Brian - Nice! I am glad I am not alone in my love for it. Did you happen to see that at the Ritz East in Philly when it came out and Wes and Waris were there doing a Q&A after?
Esoterica 5:41:36 PM
rushmore soundtrack is so good
Esoterica 5:41:47 PM
the creation, chad and jeremy
Lizbot (host) 5:42:08 PM
Rushmore soundtrack is one of my all-time favorite soundtracks!
Lizbot (host) 5:42:35 PM
I also LOVE the score that Mark Mothersbaugh made for Rushmore
Esoterica 5:43:13 PM
oh yes!
ParrScream 5:43:14 PM
ALso the score Mothersbaugh made for Aquatic!
Esoterica 5:43:34 PM
true true, Mothersbaugh rules
Lizbot (host) 5:43:50 PM
@Esoterica - I don't think there's a soundtrack in existence I've listened to more than Rushmore, other than maybe Harold & Maude, and those are very high in my all-time favorite films. I know you love Hal Ashby !
ParrScream 5:43:50 PM
Agreed!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:47 PM
@ParrScream - I like life aquatic score and Seu Jorge's Bowie covers, but wasn't as into that film
ParrScream 5:46:41 PM
@Liz - I hear you. I really like Aquatic too, mostly because it is a Bill Murray showcase but I know that one is lower on Wes' fans' favorites list. The Bowie covers are fantastic.
Lizbot (host) 5:49:26 PM
Okay, I need your input, CHAT: This entire show my mic has been dying for some reason. It got it to work just then, but it sounded echo-y to me - Did it sound echo-y or off to any of you?
ParrScream 5:52:20 PM
It sounded good to me. Did not sound echo-y or off to me.
Lizbot (host) 5:53:56 PM
Thx, ParrScream. There is something very wrong my with mic today and I can't tell if it's the software connected to it or a problem with the mic itself. It keeps disconnecting and then I have to query devices for my computer to detect it again, and that sometimes interrupts the feed, so please let me know if you hear any disruptions to the feed!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:00 PM
@ParrScream - I do love Bill Murray and those Bowie covers. That is its strengths. I also love Anjelica Huston
ParrScream 5:55:01 PM
Weird... On the prior show DJ Milky Way said she was having technical difficulties too.
Brian D 5:55:38 PM
Top 5 Robyn songs here... love the Victorian Squid
Lizbot (host) 5:57:38 PM
@ParrScream - Sometimes there's an issue with the stream, but today it is just my mic so far. This mic sometimes does this and then stops having the issue for months at a time, and then it randomly comes back and keeps doing it! It's maddening
Lizbot (host) 5:57:46 PM
@Brian D - AGREED!
Brian D 5:58:06 PM
or I sing that last line as... she's a Vermicious Knid!
Lizbot (host) 5:58:55 PM
@Mark - Some prog is coming up next track
ParrScream 5:58:59 PM
I love when Zissou admits that Eleanor has always been the brains behind Team Zissou. Angelica is great in that movie, and pretty much all of the time
Lizbot (host) 5:59:31 PM
Shrimp Boat is such a Stephen Malkmus/Pavement precursor
ParrScream 5:59:56 PM
@Liz - I was just about to say "I hear some Malkmus here!"
mark 6:00:26 PM
haha the philly prog cabal appreciates it :)
Roffle... 6:00:36 PM
Watched Life Aquatic just to see what Bud Cort was up to.
Lizbot (host) 6:00:38 PM
@mark - good!
ParrScream 6:01:08 PM
@Roffle - ha ha... being a Bond Company Stooge, obviously :-)
mark 6:01:27 PM
don’t be afraid to mix in a little peter hammill! :)
Roffle... 6:01:43 PM
I loved all of Bud Cort's early films for sure.
Lizbot (host) 6:01:49 PM
@mark - This is some brutal-prog/ "brutal chamber prog" type stuff. Amnon Friedlin, who was in the Philly prog group Normal love, was in Zs for a while
Roffle... 6:02:52 PM
Finger math
mark 6:03:15 PM
recorded in a studio in a brutalist architecture building :)
Lizbot (host) 6:03:53 PM
@mark - haha, you know I love Peter Hammill, but I don't think I'm gonna get to that today. I just played a 10 minute long Van Der Graaf song on WPRB on Tuesday! Sleepwalkers
Lizbot (host) 6:04:41 PM
@Mark - haha, let's hope so! I miss being in the I-House, speaking of brutalist buildings. I miss seeing Lightbox Film Center screenings there. They moved to the Gershman Y in center city not that long before the pandemic
mark 6:04:53 PM
I know ! i only heard a snippet of that show :(
Lizbot (host) 6:04:57 PM
@Roffle - Truly finger math!
Addie Plum 6:05:27 PM
good evening, fronds!
ParrScream 6:05:45 PM
Ah, the good ol' I House.... I miss that place too.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:50 PM
Hello Addie!
Roffle... 6:05:52 PM
@mark - My building is brutalist architecture, but Isaac Asimov also lived here, I guess it's not all bad. He wrote tons of classic stuff here.
mark 6:06:26 PM
I -house the definition of brutalist - Kubrick could a used it in clock work
mark 6:07:23 PM
@roffe Is it in Philly ?
Lizbot (host) 6:07:24 PM
Anyone happen to hear any brief pauses of silence during that last track - the proggy instrumental? I was querying devices on my system to detect the mic. sounds like silence when doing that on my end but not sure if that's actually happening in the broadcast
Roffle... 6:07:55 PM
@mark - Oh yea!
Lizbot (host) 6:08:04 PM
@Mark - I-House is one of my all-time favorite local buildings and I love the interior, the art inside, the crazy basement! My parents had their wedding reception there not long after it was built
Lizbot (host) 6:08:40 PM
@Roffle - That's awesome (about your building)!
Lizbot (host) 6:08:52 PM
@Addie - How are you doing on this fine Thursday night?
Rob from cold Maryland 6:09:10 PM
Good evening everyone
mark 6:09:33 PM
haha i remember you telling us about your parents wedding there - didn’t you also say they celebrated landmark anniversary there ?
Roffle... 6:09:43 PM
@Addie - Makin' snow angels? I am waiting for them to land!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:29 PM
@Mark - They DID have a landmark anniversary last summer - their 50th! - but celebrated in LBI, not at I-House.
Lizbot (host) 6:11:52 PM
Hello Rob! Chilly over here in Philly too! Snow is somewhat melted
Addie Plum 6:12:39 PM
Hey Lizbot! Doing well! Making a fine meal of impossible chicken nuggets and broccoli and settling down with a heady topper beer.
Addie Plum 6:13:02 PM
@roffle it’s WAY too cold to be laying about in snowdrifts at the moment.
Roffle... 6:14:05 PM
@Addie - Gottcha! :)
Rob from cold Maryland 6:14:14 PM
Hello Lizbot! All the snow melted in last night's & today's rain. It's going to be cold tomorrow morning for sure.
mark 6:14:16 PM
@roffle thanks for the Asimov info never knew there was the w philly connection reading up on it now
Lizbot (host) 6:14:19 PM
@addie - sounds good! Will give you energy to briefly visit sound drifts!
ParrScream 6:14:47 PM
@Addie - Where did you get Heady Topper? I'm jealous!
Addie Plum 6:16:32 PM
@parrscream I live in VT! And I misspoke, it’s actually Focal Banger!
Roffle... 6:16:46 PM
@mark - Yea, he was in Philly for quite a while. Worked for the Gov as a Physicist.
Addie Plum 6:17:38 PM
@lizbot sound drifts are MUCH warmer than snow drifts.
ParrScream 6:18:04 PM
@Addie - Nice! How is it up in Vermont today? COLD and SNOWY???
ParrScream 6:18:28 PM
@Addie - Focal Banger is a nice alternative to Heady Topper. :-)
Roffle... 6:19:00 PM
This could be Sparks on any Thursday.
Addie Plum 6:19:04 PM
At the moment it’s a balmy six degrees! And yeah, there’s about 6 inches of snow or so on the ground.
Lizbot (host) 6:19:24 PM
@Addie - haha, a mistype, but I like it! I will have to title on of my episodes "sound drifts"!
mark 6:21:03 PM
@roffle saw there was a ground swell of support for historical marker outside buildings he lived Did anything get placed there ?
Lizbot (host) 6:21:36 PM
@Roffle - Sparks can happen at any moment on ++good. Though I just played them 2 days ago on the station
Lizbot (host) 6:21:54 PM
@roffle - That's really good about Asimov. I gotta read more about that!
Roffle... 6:21:58 PM
@Addie - I don't know if I am jealous or glad from where I sit. :)
Roffle... 6:22:33 PM
I love the Sparks moments!
Addie Plum 6:23:36 PM
@roffle it’s ok to be a little jealous. It IS pretty beautiful.
Roffle... 6:24:15 PM
Ya know where I live! All good though, I won't tell ya the apartment number, and I never answer the door without an appointment. lol
Lizbot (host) 6:24:32 PM
@roffle - glad you do! The Brothers Mael could strike again! depends on how much time I got left after the songs I have cued up. And BTW, mic problems persist!
Roffle... 6:25:35 PM
@Addie - Full moon sparkles in moon light are the very best thing ever!
Roffle... 6:26:15 PM
Love the snow!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:25 PM
see, mark! I promised more prog and mathy stuff today, and I delivered in this set. More to come too
Roffle... 6:27:11 PM
Mic probs aside I love the math probs!
Lizbot (host) 6:27:36 PM
@Roffle - haha, fitting for the legacy of your building!
mark 6:28:11 PM
haha only kidding that I’m making requests to the great Lizbot playlists, wish i had heard more of tuesday show
Lizbot (host) 6:29:00 PM
@addie - I bet Vermont is gorgeous right now, but my house would be unlivable there without a serious HVAC upgrade! It was struggling last week during that weather in the teens that dipped to 9 at night, and we have more of that coming up in the next several days!
Lizbot (host) 6:29:22 PM
@Mark - all good! But you happened to hop in on a proggier episode!
mark 6:29:53 PM
but if for future shows consider Peter Hammils Ph7 it’s a fantastic album ! circa. 1979
Addie Plum 6:37:22 PM
Oh no@lizbot! Thoughts and prayers for your pipes!
Lizbot (host) 6:37:27 PM
@Mark - Noted! I wanna get more familiar with that album. I love him!
Lizbot (host) 6:38:59 PM
@Addie - I can't say I'm not concerned considering the downstairs bathroom pipe burst last Thursday and was still leaking during my show! I hope my pipes fair better this week, but I dunno..whoever built my back bathroom and mudroom didn't put in a crawlspace and made it very hard to insulate the pipes!
Brian D 6:39:05 PM
Hello Addie. I have some Zero Gravity mix 12 pack to go with the fish tacos I made (just 1, not the whole 12 as it's a work night ha!)
Lizbot (host) 6:39:38 PM
@Brian D - you're always making dinners that sound so good!
Brian D 6:40:35 PM
And I finally tried that Frost from VT. Great beer
Roffle... 6:40:39 PM
@Lizbot - Dang! I hate those wall rip out procedures! Arg!
Addie Plum 6:40:51 PM
Love some Zero Gravity, @ Brian D! We usually have it around the house.
mark 6:41:41 PM
that last one was fantastic wish i knew the translation
Brian D 6:42:04 PM
The ZG stout is great too. Not in the 12 pack. Grabbed a separate 4 of those
Lizbot (host) 6:43:20 PM
@Roffle - Yeah, it's a mess! We already replaced the pipes that we could- the ones leading to the tap- with those flexi pipes so they can expand and contract. That was after a really bad leak 10 years ago that destroyed our washer and dryer, the floors of two rooms AND the drywall! Massive repair.
mark 6:44:13 PM
bloody shadows in a distance woulda worked in Yellow jackets tv series that was discussed in esoterica chat
Roffle... 6:45:32 PM
I remember getting drunk with some famous guys father in a bar in Vermont, but I can't remember who's dad that was because I was rather drunk. lol
ParrScream 6:46:07 PM
I have heard great thing about Zero Gravity.... unfortunately I have never had any of their beers.... I need to get on that.
Lizbot (host) 6:47:14 PM
@Mark - I want to watch that show. It's been on my list. But my Showtime expired and I haven't gotten around to renewing, and I efintiey Won't have time for any shows of the next 10 days because SUNDANCE Film Fest starts TODAY and it's online again this year, so I'm seeing a bunch of films
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:47:19 PM
Miriodor! And the one release I have yet to obtain.
Roffle... 6:47:32 PM
@Lizbot - OMG, the rip the wall to get to it is a nightmare, because you have to pay to put the wall back! Sucks!
Lizbot (host) 6:47:38 PM
@DTO - Haha, of course Miriodor brought you out of the shadows!
Addie Plum 6:47:49 PM
@roffle LOL!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:48:14 PM
Was too busy researching Fermata and Deformica. New discoveries for me!
Lizbot (host) 6:48:24 PM
@Brian D & ParrScream - I have not tried ZeroGravity, but then I'm not a big beer drinker
Rachel Milligan 6:48:39 PM
puppet master vibes!
ParrScream 6:48:45 PM
Gotta run... great talking to you all. Take care and hope to see you all soon.
Lizbot (host) 6:49:01 PM
@DTO - glad you are listening in to this particularly progg episode of ++good
Lizbot (host) 6:49:13 PM
Hi Rachel! haha, yeah!
mark 6:49:26 PM
@lizbot it’s the buzz show of the year if not the past decade basically the Lost successor that so many have tried to make
Roffle... 6:49:26 PM
@ǝʌɐꓷ - Mike left the keys to the vault under the fender of the left front tire of the sedan parked by the old oak tree. Tell no one!
Rachel Milligan 6:49:51 PM
(i think this is my first time ever in the chat and i did just come here to say puppet master vibes hahaha)
Roffle... 6:51:47 PM
++Good is a nice place to chat start Rachel! Welcome!
Lizbot (host) 6:51:57 PM
Welcome, Rachel! I'm glad you stopped by! Not like I can run into you at shows these days, I am holing up this winter as much as possible!
Lizbot (host) 6:53:52 PM
@mark - That's the impression I get and a friend of mine has been trying to get me to watch it so we can discuss. I would've this past week had my 1st two attempts to renew Showtime not failed! Now I gotta call tech support, so I have put it off, and now it's Sundance FF time!
Lizbot (host) 6:54:58 PM
Is anyone else streaming Sundance Fest 2022? I'm still looking through the guide. they switched from in person to online so last minute, I didn't think I''d get to do it this year. Last year's was great!
Roffle... 6:57:07 PM
Went to Sundance 15 or so years ago! Such a wrong name at that time of year. Snowy mess!
mark 6:57:30 PM
ha i won’t give my opinions both the good & bad until you watch:) you might have some strong opinions about NJ high school girls in the mid 90s !
Rachel Milligan 6:58:54 PM
OMG LIZ!!!
mark 6:59:22 PM
the music is quite good - now I’m discovering a lot more about Anna Wawrinka - she’s fascinating
Rachel Milligan 6:59:40 PM
love it!! ~ecology: homestones rules~
Rachel Milligan 7:02:01 PM
also I had no idea Sundance was virtual and am now scouring the website!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:57 PM
@Rachel - Yes! And I misread "Crest" as "Quest" for a second! ha. I'd like to go on a quest to Wildwood Crest
Roffle... 7:03:19 PM
Seeing Sundance without standing out side in lines would be the the way to go.
Rachel Milligan 7:03:47 PM
wouldn’t we all enjoy that crest quest!!
Lizbot (host) 7:03:57 PM
@Rachel - I am imagining Dylan carrying his audio equipment around the dunes!
Rob from cold Maryland 7:04:10 PM
Everything about this show has been so good!!!
Rachel Milligan 7:04:52 PM
pretty accurate to his process haha
Lizbot (host) 7:05:41 PM
@Mark - haha, I've heard it's a lot of actresses who were new/around my age when I was in high school! Melanie Lynsky was same age as me when Heavenly Creatures came out, and that was one of my fav movies of my teen years! And yeah, the NJ thing...I am very curious about this show!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:57 PM
@Rachel - Yeah, the whole reason I discovered Sundance was online last year was because they were premiering the Sparks documentary, The Mael Brothers, with live Q&A with Ron and Russell and there was NO way I was gonna miss that!
Lizbot (host) 7:07:17 PM
@Rob - Thanks Rob!!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:12 PM
@Mark - I wanna read up on Anna Wawrinka, but maybe I should watch the show first
George Korein 7:08:18 PM
This show has been tops
Lizbot (host) 7:08:28 PM
Thanks, George!
Roffle... 7:08:59 PM
Vibes!
mark 7:09:15 PM
haha i knew that would be an attraction to you ! I’m not sure what area if NJ the high school is Juliet Lewis and Christina Ricci costar w Melanie
Lizbot (host) 7:10:05 PM
@Rachel - I made a short list last night, but some screenings are selling out because they limit the number of viewers, even online. So make your move soon. Some of the films I wanna see, like The Worst Person In the World, are already sold out for both premiere and 2nd screening
Rachel Milligan 7:10:23 PM
I have to agree with George
Roffle... 7:10:47 PM
Not cheep either!
Lizbot (host) 7:11:43 PM
@Mark - all actresses that got famous during my high school years
Lizbot (host) 7:11:57 PM
@Mark - I wonder...I went to hs in South Jersey
mark 7:12:00 PM
I didn’t know much about Anna until show came out She & Craig wedren do the music - in bands w Petra Haden Also married to Redd Kroiss brother
Lizbot (host) 7:12:07 PM
@Rachel - Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:13:17 PM
@Roffle - Yeah, I don't buy the Sundance passes. Unlike the Philly Film Fest passes, they aren't a good deal, for online viewing anyway. I'm sure having those is a big help in person, but I'm just doing the $20 single tickets.
Roffle... 7:13:37 PM
HS in Glassboro for me, and I had to finish up north. But I will forever love Glassboro!
mark 7:14:01 PM
haha us loyal listeners know what town ;) Halloween is great movie !!
Lizbot (host) 7:15:07 PM
@mark - true, true! my hometown also gets a mention in when harry met sally
Lizbot (host) 7:16:09 PM
@Roffle - My mom got her teaching certificate there, when Rowan was still called Glassboro! Then she went on to the teaching program at UPenn but that's where she got her start. She's talked about Glassboro in the late 50s when she was a student there
mark 7:16:10 PM
haha was just watching some harry & sally bits last week
Lizbot (host) 7:16:30 PM
@mark - listen for my hometown when sally is telling harry her backstory
Lizbot (host) 7:18:03 PM
@Mark - Craig Wedren does the music for everything these days! I see his name in the credits of so many shows! My good friend Jesse Krakow played with him in a 2000s version of Shudder to Think
mark 7:18:22 PM
I will ! was brought to it by a Nora ephron rabbit hole
Roffle... 7:19:07 PM
@Lizbot - Glassboro was a teacher's college! I have a UPENN ID card to this day in my wallet. lol
Lizbot (host) 7:19:13 PM
@mark - ha! I know an HMHS alum was involved in making the film, hence Sally's origin
Lizbot (host) 7:20:05 PM
@Roffle - haha, same! I have my old UPenn student IDs and my UPenn employee cards floating around my nightstand
mark 7:20:22 PM
ha there’s some good you tubes of Craig wedren playing in Philly out there I’m only now discovering shudder to think
Roffle... 7:20:47 PM
@Lizbot - We can roll on all the shuttles! LMAO!
Lizbot (host) 7:21:59 PM
@Roffle - True! I admit I've used those shuttles while not an active student!
mark 7:22:06 PM
and it looks like he does a lot film scores now once Sundance is over you’ll have to watch the series:)
Lizbot (host) 7:23:04 PM
@Roffle - and the Princeton shuttle...and the Blue Bus from Bryn Mawr to Haverford and Swarthmore. Old ID cards come in so handy!
mark 7:23:12 PM
10 episodes they pitched the show to last 5 seasons tho I think that would be too long
Roffle... 7:24:27 PM
@Lizbot - I did the junction station to the Forestall campus and was never asked once.
George Korein 7:24:32 PM
That Ribiero may be my favorite
Lizbot (host) 7:25:21 PM
@Mark - yea, I remember when Jesse with performing with Shudder to Think regularly and Jesse was excited because Craig got the gig to score The Ten, a comedy with Paul Rudd. That was like 2006/7ish
Lizbot (host) 7:25:47 PM
@George - That's one I don't normally play and I agree it is great. She just has so many great songs
mark 7:26:20 PM
psa: update those Penn IDs to alumni IDs there are benefits!
Lizbot (host) 7:27:19 PM
@Mark - good point!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:16 PM
@Roffle - Nice! Gives me a cheap thrill! Also, for a while I knew one of the Penn shuttle drivers - a musician friend - so that didn't hurt
mark 7:28:17 PM
admission to libraries & museum / arboretum for free
Rachel Milligan 7:28:21 PM
dang you really are playing the hits
Lizbot (host) 7:28:54 PM
@Rachel - haha! Cheer-Accident is coming out with a new album soon!
Roffle... 7:29:22 PM
@mark - I get in everywhere. I love it! Museums, Art Gallerys and lectures!
Lizbot (host) 7:29:29 PM
@Rachel - They have been releasing one song a month for years now, and I subscribe to their song a month club, and some of those songs will make it onto the new album
Rachel Milligan 7:30:27 PM
ooooh that is exciting!! cool project
Lizbot (host) 7:32:52 PM
@Roffle - At this point I have so many cards - including unexpired ones - that grant me discounted access to museums and arboretums. and so many museum and arts org memberships have a reciprocal program
Roffle... 7:33:07 PM
@Lizbot - Those are the friends we find. On a bus somewhere. Weird but it works.
mark 7:34:29 PM
@lizbot I assume you’re remaining in this time slot ? wish I had known earlier that you filled in
Roffle... 7:34:39 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:51:26 PM
@Roffle - ha! I don't need to train my conure boy Fripp to attack! He knows all too well, but reserves his violence for my husband's shirt collars. Gonna have to have him pay that other station's DJs' shirt collars a visit!
Christine 🦉 7:51:47 PM
Yo, Philly Prog Cabal 👋
Lizbot (host) 7:51:54 PM
