Ha ha... woozy.... How were the holidays? I feel like I haven't been on the chat since before Christmas.

@Roffle - I wish, but I'm super caffeine-sensitive! I love coffee, but one cup keeps me up for days! I once in a blue moon get half caf, but even that messes me up too much. It's more like I'm worried I'm coming down with something kind of wooziness...ilke a malaise. Argh!

@ParrScream - Yeah, it seems like it's been since Christmas! I had great holidays, I hope you did too! I managed to avoid getting sick, hung out with family friends I hadn't seen in a long time in the backyard because it was so mild out on Christmas Day! Then that week between Christmas and NYE I basically got nothing done

@Roffle - I love this album! My first impression of Gentle Giant as a kid was that it was kinda going for a Renaissance Fair vibe because the only tracks I'd heard sounded like that, but then I dug deeper and this album rips. I love keyboard heavy prog. It gets kinda gnarly while also being virtuosic and crisp

@Liz - So glad to hear it! Our Christmas was a lot of fun but also crazy - as is expected with 4 kids under the age of 12. I was fortunate that my boss pretty much made me take off the week between Christmas and New Years so I also got nothing done besides a lot of time with the kids and relaxing.

Yep! I love that original version.... I did know that 'Tainted Love' was an older song before Soft Cell covered it but what 'Last Night in Soho' taught me that 'Got My Mind Set on You' by George Harrsion was a cover! I had no idea!

Got my Mind Set on You was a Jerry Gordon that's not the original .... entry a few weeks/ months back. I read about that being a cover sometime in the internet era but had no idea back in the late 80s when Bee-attle George covered it. He did a fine job. Original is interesting. Soulful almost gospel like vocal line

@ParrScream - I saw French Dispatch the night it came out with my 13 year-old who also love Wes Anderson. It wasn't my fav WA movie, but I enjoyed it. My kid wasn't as into it. It was very jam-packed, like Grand Budapest Hotel, but more so!

@Liz - Aw, darn it! My best friend who is also a huge Wes fan (as am I) said he thought it was just ok. I still haven't seen it! :-( And can I just say that it is awesome that your 13 year old is a Wes Anderson fan?!?!?!

@Mark - Back in the early 2000s when I did a recurring live DJ night at Silk City under its original ownership I would play a set of 80s no wave and new wave and Soft Cell was enjoying a revival in interest with young adults right then, so I always slipped in the original Gloria Jones Tainted Love

@ParrScream - I still think it's 100% worth seeing! The bar is high for him!

Loved French Dispatch! I recommend streaming and watching it several times over a day or 2. So many Easter eggs in that. Gotta get the soundtrack now

@ParrScream - My kid's 1st Wes Anderson experience was Fantastic Mr. Fox, but her favorites are Moonrise Kingdom and Rushmore, much like me! I got her a large theater marquee Moonrise Kingdom poster and framed it for Christmas last year. Rushmore was the first one that really clicked for her

Ok Liz & Brian... I am going to watch it this weekend. I NEED to. And yes, the bar is very high but I am sure I will enjoy it. Just maybe not as much as Tenenbaums or Rushmore.

@Brian D - Yeah, that's what I mean by it's DENSE with visual stimuli and Easter eggs and there's a LOT going on (in French Dispatch). It think it was almost overwhelming for my kid, and she also didn't get all the references

So much great French retro pop and new music created as homage to French pop. Wes knows his music. He plans out certain songs for films. Sometimes has to bank them in the vault and then uses them years later

I also really like Darjeeling (I know that isn't a popular opinion in some circles) because of the brothers element. Reminds me so much of my brother and best friend.

Thx, ParrScream. There is something very wrong my with mic today and I can't tell if it's the software connected to it or a problem with the mic itself. It keeps disconnecting and then I have to query devices for my computer to detect it again, and that sometimes interrupts the feed, so please let me know if you hear any disruptions to the feed!

@ParrScream - Sometimes there's an issue with the stream, but today it is just my mic so far. This mic sometimes does this and then stops having the issue for months at a time, and then it randomly comes back and keeps doing it! It's maddening

@Roffle - Yeah, it's a mess! We already replaced the pipes that we could- the ones leading to the tap- with those flexi pipes so they can expand and contract. That was after a really bad leak 10 years ago that destroyed our washer and dryer, the floors of two rooms AND the drywall! Massive repair.

@Mark - haha, I've heard it's a lot of actresses who were new/around my age when I was in high school! Melanie Lynsky was same age as me when Heavenly Creatures came out, and that was one of my fav movies of my teen years! And yeah, the NJ thing...I am very curious about this show!

@Rachel - Yeah, the whole reason I discovered Sundance was online last year was because they were premiering the Sparks documentary, The Mael Brothers, with live Q&A with Ron and Russell and there was NO way I was gonna miss that!

@Rachel - I made a short list last night, but some screenings are selling out because they limit the number of viewers, even online. So make your move soon. Some of the films I wanna see, like The Worst Person In the World, are already sold out for both premiere and 2nd screening
