When you introduced it my first guess was “this will be someone’s early work”

I remember I had an modern art history class where for every artist covered, the teacher would first show a slide of a a traditional classical painting. He’d say “this is an early work of Mondrian” or Dali or Kandinsky or whoever and then say “if all of their paintings were like this, we never would have heard of them”
