DJ Pup (host) 2:56:45 PM
Hey
Brian D 3:03:17 PM
very beef heartian !
DJ Pup (host) 3:05:10 PM
Steppin out the gate beefy
DJ Pup (host) 3:05:37 PM
A neighbor of mine is grilling right now, so I do smell beef actually
m. e. 3:08:43 PM
Duder, Been catching up on previous episodes all week while painting in my studio. Such a fan DJ Pup you have great taste man, cheers.
m. e. 3:09:14 PM
Do you still work at a record shop?
DJ Pup (host) 3:09:48 PM
Thank you! 😁 I'm happy to be able to play a part in the process
DJ Pup (host) 3:10:27 PM
Not currently working in a record shop, but I do miss it sometimes
DJ Pup (host) 3:11:22 PM
Best days were when new collections came in, always an exciting moment to see what surprises might reveal themselves
m. e. 3:11:25 PM
Sick dude. Www.mattheweiraldi.com is my site. Not much of a grammer if you want to peep the visuals
m. e. 3:12:10 PM
Which shop? I have seen some good ones come and go in my day. Trying to remember the one in Old City here in philly that closed like 5 years or so ago
DJ Pup (host) 3:12:54 PM
In philly I helped out occasionally at a short-run store called R&D, but when I was employed full time at a shop it was in NJ at Vintage Vinyl
DJ Pup (host) 3:13:32 PM
R&D was on 4th, just below south st
m. e. 3:14:17 PM
Yea Mary Lattimore used to work at the one in philly.. trying to remember the name it escapes me. Dope. You live near princeton now? I was living in BK for the last 4 years now im trapped in suburban pa it sucks lol
DJ Pup (host) 3:14:46 PM
Ah gotcha thats definitely a big changeup in your living situation
DJ Pup (host) 3:14:52 PM
I'm actually based in philly
DJ Pup (host) 3:15:05 PM
But grew up in central jersey
DJ Pup (host) 3:15:31 PM
Currently living in south philly, down closer toward the stadium area
m. e. 3:15:55 PM
Oh wow ok cool man thats sick. Yeah im probably going to end up back in hoboken or something. Well see. Ah ok I’ve been around those parts. FDR skatepark
DJ Pup (host) 3:16:13 PM
yup! that's def not too far from me
DJ Pup (host) 3:16:33 PM
That's cool I hope that works out for ya
m. e. 3:16:45 PM
Thanks man i appreciate it, its been tuff
DJ Pup (host) 3:16:57 PM
Definitely, I feel ya
DJ Pup (host) 3:17:29 PM
I'm 2 months away from completing a masters degree while working 2 jobs and taking classes... my brain is friiiied lmao
DJ Pup (host) 3:18:11 PM
*Here's to hoping for a better 2022 and beyond*
m. e. 3:18:32 PM
Shit thats great though. What are ya studying
DJ Pup (host) 3:18:37 PM
Not the easiest thing to hope for, all things considered right now, but still important to be hopeful!
Brian D 3:18:45 PM
This sounds like it may have influenced Kamasi W
TAndy 3:18:59 PM
Pup!! Hey there!
Brian D 3:19:03 PM
Love this brew of sounds
TAndy 3:19:15 PM
I'm happy you recognize Central Jersey!
DJ Pup (host) 3:19:20 PM
I can definitely hear that Brian! The weather today is perfect for these vibes
DJ Pup (host) 3:19:31 PM
Oh yes! central jersey is recognized territory in the book of Pup
DJ Pup (host) 3:19:48 PM
and I'm studying media production! (to answer that question before)
Brian D 3:20:00 PM
"This" meaning the Harold McKinney as we have moved to next track.... which is also great!
DJ Pup (host) 3:20:30 PM
Got an undergrad in media, but unless you know someone in the industry already, good luck getting a job. After 5 years of wandering odd jobs I hit a wall and decided a masters could help improve the chances of searching
m. e. 3:21:20 PM
Tight man. Dude I hear ya its brutal. What do you mean by media though? Like show tv production? Theres a lot of that in greenpoint in bk
Brian D 3:21:23 PM
"I don't know that guy" lp title ha
TAndy 3:21:29 PM
Just got out the barbershop with a fresh cut listening to some fresh music on wprb
DJ Pup (host) 3:21:41 PM
Ayeee fresh cut tuesdays
m. e. 3:21:41 PM
I need a cut tandy lol
DJ Pup (host) 3:21:52 PM
not a bad radio show name either, Fresh Cut
Brian D 3:22:28 PM
Fresh Cut Tuesdays even more apropos yeah! New tunes day
DJ Pup (host) 3:23:01 PM
Most of my media production's been audio and writing.. lots of radio (cough cough) and podcasting production, writing scripts and articles for outlets, even playing in ableton to come up with basic compositions to add to podcast production
DJ Pup (host) 3:23:28 PM
Even the mic bed for this show (playing now) I made
DJ Pup (host) 3:24:48 PM
But yeah idk where I'll be in the next couple months, applying to places all over (mostly LA, Atlanta, and Philly)
m. e. 3:25:28 PM
Ah ok, very interesting. Do you have the skillset to build a production studio? I know theres people who rent to bands to record but maybe thats a totally different beast
DJ Pup (host) 3:25:48 PM
It's tangentially related but not a direct expertise
DJ Pup (host) 3:26:04 PM
I could help with a setup but I don't think I could direct one, if that makes sense
Brian D 3:26:20 PM
Every time i see the word/ name "Tandy " i think of prankster of phone extraordinaire Longmont Potion Castle... "I'd like to revel in the excitement of Tandy..." he says when he calls a Radiio Shack. Tandy was i think a leather company that acquired Radio Shack... ?
DJ Pup (host) 3:26:35 PM
Longmont Potion Castle ftw
m. e. 3:26:37 PM
Got ya.
TAndy 3:27:03 PM
Now it's time for a fresh shower, and a fresh car wash before cruising a bit
DJ Pup (host) 3:27:13 PM
If I was really savvy at this whole darn radio thing, I'd try to pull a Longmont and have a delay and FX board at hand while doing mic breaks
TAndy 3:27:34 PM
Hahaha Brian D I've been waiting for someone to connect my username with the brand from Radio Shack!
Brian D 3:27:37 PM
"Do you have a Leprechaun Julius? "
DJ Pup (host) 3:27:43 PM
I did a drive thru carwash yesterday! Always forget how simple of a joy they are to do
Brian D 3:28:14 PM
Do have any Dugan Nash in the playlist? How about Orville Sash?
DJ Pup (host) 3:28:38 PM
🤣
DJ Pup (host) 3:28:42 PM
Triple double flip
Brian D 3:29:44 PM
I have had great wprb experiences in drive through car washes in past couple years. Always enhances the particular song. But I've been lucky where it seems the really intense songs come on when the jets start...
Brian D 3:30:39 PM
That latest one where he describes the song and keeps singing it oh my... laffs galore. Tears streaming
DJ Pup (host) 3:30:59 PM
Longmont's always good for a laugh, big fan
Brian D 3:32:13 PM
"Are you looking for a book on porcupines? Uh no i thought he said a book titled Turpentine... Uhhh umm no you called my bookstore!"
TAndy 3:33:42 PM
@Pup where in CNJ were you? I was born and raised in Polish North Trenton, moved to Lawrence during middle school, and finally back in (East) Trenton a year and a half ago.
TAndy 3:34:03 PM
And yes those auto washes are convenient but not always doing a great job. At least the one on Rt 1 behind Wawa...
Brian D 3:35:21 PM
I love the scary loss of perspective in the drive through car washes where you actually stop the car and that movable bridge-like mechanism moves back and forth over your car . If the suds obscure the windows enough you start to jam on the brakes and swear that your car is MOVING! Great adrenaline rush no additives needed ha!
DJ Pup (host) 3:35:54 PM
I grew up in Manalapan through high school, then stayed up in the New Brunswick/Highland Park area until I moved to Philly
DJ Pup (host) 3:36:36 PM
Yeah its definitely a rush sometimes! Especially some of the high velocity air dryers I'll worry at times that the windows might break or something lol
TAndy 3:36:51 PM
@Brian sounds fancy! The washes I go to are just simple tunnels with sprayers and those cylinders that smack the hell out of my car with the red 'brushes'
Brian D 3:36:52 PM
SHEET METAL THUNDERRRRRR
TAndy 3:37:11 PM
Ahh I forgot NB was considered part of CNJ lol
DJ Pup (host) 3:37:24 PM
I went to a spot in Cherry Hill yesterday (similarly near a Wawa) that the car goes on the track and it runs you through the brushes etc
DJ Pup (host) 3:37:41 PM
Yeah NB is sort of a border/land with north jersey it feels like
TAndy 3:37:46 PM
I always considered CNJ a solid line from upper Burlington up to maybe South Brunswick, Rutgers MAYBE.
DJ Pup (host) 3:38:04 PM
Yeah, in this case I went to Rutgers so that's about right
TAndy 3:38:17 PM
Love this Shotobeats track
DJ Pup (host) 3:38:46 PM
Thanks! Was a pleasant find while doing my weekly Bandcamp digging
Brian D 3:38:56 PM
Oh i would not say fancy no... i thought the stationary ones seem like less upkeep. But also less chance of car damage, getting stuck etc than those ones where you have to align you wheels and go in neutral n machine pulls your car. Those are a little scary
TAndy 3:39:45 PM
I wish we had a touchless wash around here, those are awesome. Going too often is murder on the paint but hell it's fancy
Brian D 3:41:07 PM
Parents always liked to go out to dinner maybe once a week/ every other. Growing up in Lower Bucks Co Pa we would almost always go to Trenton. Never Philly, too far. So many great restaurants in NJ then and now
DJ Pup (host) 3:42:48 PM
We're definitely in a good area for food, tons of variety of cuisine and lots of high quality spots
Brian D 3:43:16 PM
My wife was going to one where you get the mothly plan paid up front and the little strip sticker in your window that the sensor reads it etc.
DJ Pup (host) 3:43:46 PM
The car wash I went to yesterday had one of those programs too
DJ Pup (host) 3:43:55 PM
Probably especially good if you're drying Lyft
DJ Pup (host) 3:44:01 PM
driving* Lyft lol
Brian D 3:44:53 PM
I am due. Get rid of winter salt under car etc
DJ Pup (host) 3:45:41 PM
Yeah I hit the wash because I drove during a particularly messy time a few days back and my car looked filthy
m. e. 3:46:27 PM
Flat circle radio merch.. it needs to happen lmao
TAndy 3:47:16 PM
I would rock a flat circle bucket hat
DJ Pup (host) 3:47:32 PM
A bucket hat! ooooo that's fun
Brian D 3:47:53 PM
Ya that headphone critter in white on a comfy black tee shirt. Yup. Would buy
DJ Pup (host) 3:48:07 PM
In the world there are currently about a couple dozen screen printed patches, some pinback buttons, and one shirt with the logo printed on it (that I own)
DJ Pup (host) 3:48:47 PM
If there's a way to be able to actually list merch somewhere (wouldn't even want to profit off it, just have it available) that would be cool.
DJ Pup (host) 3:49:14 PM
I should reach out to Jon Solomon and ask him about his shirts, how to do it etc
Brian D 3:49:21 PM
I remember when i first saw Cafe Press site what like 20 yrs ago and thought omg i have to get this and that in a tee or mug or sticker.... Never did
DJ Pup (host) 3:49:23 PM
Cause I feel ya, I would totally love to have merch out there
DJ Pup (host) 3:49:44 PM
Nice haha yes classic cafe press
Brian D 3:52:30 PM
A band member did do a couple of shirts via Cafe Press & gave me one. I will give them it was soft not that tent canvas scratchy neck torture variety but it did fade quick. Made it look all vintage ha
DJ Pup (host) 3:53:19 PM
thats a nice knock on effect, if I made any merch I'd be hand screen printing it (have a screen printer at home, single-color)
Brian D 3:53:22 PM
This is super chill. Electric piano grooves
m. e. 3:53:23 PM
This song slaps. New song, Who Dis?
Brian D 3:54:30 PM
AND double bonus it was not the rubber transfer sweat patch t shirt process. Image inked right into fabric. Like that
TAndy 3:54:57 PM
Omfg... Vinyl slap stickers with the DJ Pup logo that would be perfect
DJ Pup (host) 3:55:04 PM
I love Marion Brown's free jazz work, but also have plenty of capacity to enjoy his smoother grooves
Brian D 3:55:27 PM
Oo cool marimba in there too nice
DJ Pup (host) 3:55:33 PM
Stickers aren't a bad idea either...
DJ Pup (host) 3:55:38 PM
Hmmm
TAndy 3:55:54 PM
Or one of those nice stickers that goes on the window and it's just the black strips of stocker material for a simple logo or words. Expensive as hell but they look sick
DJ Pup (host) 3:56:07 PM
I need a Solomon bat signal to light up the sky to get his input on this
DJ Pup (host) 3:56:40 PM
I actually also have a vinyl cutting machine, so I could probably make vinyl clings at home too
TAndy 3:56:43 PM
I'd say red bubble but the way they cut stickers is pretty bad... Last ones I got were cut uneven, and even normally they have huge white outlines.
TAndy 3:56:59 PM
Ay yo. WPRB logo wrap on the hood of the car
DJ Pup (host) 3:57:31 PM
maybe a "Keep honking! I'm taking a trip in the Flat Cirlce" with the Pup logo to the side of the text
TAndy 3:57:42 PM
Yesssss
TAndy 4:05:52 PM
Having fun isn't hard when you have a library card
DJ Pup (host) 4:08:06 PM
Didn't Arthur also wrap up recently? 25 years on the air or somethin
TAndy 4:08:29 PM
Yeah it just aired the final episode a couple of weeks ago. Also
TAndy 4:08:38 PM
OMFG it has been so long since I heard this song
TAndy 4:08:58 PM
Oh a remix!! This is sick man!
DJ Pup (host) 4:09:20 PM
Recently discovered this electronic group, and maaaan their whole library is wild
TAndy 4:09:44 PM
BILL BILL BBILL BILL
DJ Pup (host) 4:09:46 PM
I also can't help but hear "Bill, Bill, Bill" like the Bill Nye intro
DJ Pup (host) 4:09:50 PM
YEAH lol
TAndy 4:10:09 PM
Are these guys local? I looked this up to save on YouTube and one of their videos had an easy pass as the album art
DJ Pup (host) 4:10:18 PM
Jersey!
TAndy 4:10:42 PM
Sick
TAndy 4:11:42 PM
Now that the weather is warm I'm trying so hard not to blast loud electronic music from my car. But if I do that then I'll be missing PRB :(
DJ Pup (host) 4:16:07 PM
Well at least now in PRB fashion the loud electronic music blasting from the car would be late 60s modular synths
TAndy 4:21:36 PM
This goes hard tbh
Jon Solomon 4:24:43 PM
Did I miss Meshuggah?!?!
DJ Pup (host) 4:24:56 PM
you did not!
Jon Solomon 4:25:03 PM
Phew.
DJ Pup (host) 4:25:05 PM
woah my bat signal may have worked
DJ Pup (host) 4:25:28 PM
earlier in the chat we were discussing merch, and I figured you may have some knowledge.. but we can also chat outside of this forum haha
DJ Pup (host) 4:25:50 PM
You actually may have arrived... just... in time
Jon Solomon 4:26:14 PM
Jon Solomon 4:26:27 PM
I can help with this to a degree! Happy to talk when you are not On The Radio.
DJ Pup (host) 4:26:40 PM
Awesome! Appreciate it
TAndy 4:27:44 PM
Okay so the car wash is way too crowded for me to go right now oh well lol
DJ Pup (host) 4:28:11 PM
I can imagine today's a great day for a wash so yeah lines must be pretty long
DJ Pup (host) 4:28:29 PM
If I didn't live in a city I'd wash it myself.. oooo to have a driveway
Jon Solomon 4:29:21 PM
Meshuggah time!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 4:30:00 PM
Let’s join them in a cleansing scream.
DJ Pup (host) 4:30:50 PM
"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" scene from Network (1976)
TAndy 4:32:22 PM
Was that a warmup for dessert cruising?
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 4:32:44 PM
More like desert cursing.
TAndy 4:32:57 PM
ohi Dave & Jon
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 4:33:10 PM
Hey, TAndy.
DJ Pup (host) 4:33:24 PM
that was a little prod in that direction for sure, keep the energy alive throughout the afternoon into the evening
DJ Pup (host) 4:33:52 PM
Also speaking of evenings and time... did people see the senate's vote on getting rid of daylight savings time today?
DJ Pup (host) 4:34:24 PM
Or rather, would make it permanent, but get rid of that back and forth
DJ Pup (host) 4:34:28 PM
https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/15/politics/senate-daylight-saving-time-permanent/index.html
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 4:34:31 PM
Don’t tell me- split down party lines?
TAndy 4:34:50 PM
Pup I legitimately want DST to be permanent
DJ Pup (host) 4:35:08 PM
Bipartisan! Of all the things they should be working on right now... this is an interesting time to give this vote a run
TAndy 4:35:21 PM
The sunshine protection act!! 😂
DJ Pup (host) 4:35:25 PM
no time is permanent, Tandy
DJ Pup (host) 4:35:38 PM
*blade runner music plays as I look off in the rain*
TAndy 4:35:52 PM
Which music Pup
TAndy 4:35:59 PM
Tears in rain or blade runner blues
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 4:36:02 PM
A conspiracy to keep us from being woke to early.
DJ Pup (host) 4:36:32 PM
oh ya know just a little vangelis to get the blood flowin
TAndy 4:37:20 PM
I just showed my friend BR for the first time a few weeks ago, he was pretty speechless but loved it
TAndy 4:38:41 PM
Still trying to force him to make time for 2049 and the matrix films
DJ Pup (host) 4:42:02 PM
nice, I still need to watch 2049
DJ Pup (host) 4:42:43 PM
I'm sure in like 5 years Space X will launch a 200 mile long LCD screen in the sky and will beam it down to earth in mega-imax, so I'll probably see it then
TAndy 4:43:02 PM
You need to see 2049 dude it's so good
DJ Pup (host) 4:43:38 PM
It's one of the few movies that I've held off because I want to see it in an ideal environment.. like good size screen and soundsystem etc... missed it in theatres
DJ Pup (host) 4:44:21 PM
and since Covid I've been especially hesitant to try going to theatres.. though I'm making a rare exception to go see the Jujutsu Kaisen movie at the end of this week
TAndy 4:44:23 PM
It was a perfect cinema film ngl
DJ Pup (host) 4:45:03 PM
The movie's a prequel to the anime, so anyone can watch it and enjoy even if you don't know the characters
DJ Pup (host) 4:45:29 PM
"Anime talk" has to be on the Flat Circle bingo card.. sheesh
TAndy 4:46:17 PM
I am currently stoked for the next One Piece film.
DJ Pup (host) 4:46:50 PM
I'm surprised there's not a pirate emoji
DJ Pup (host) 4:46:57 PM
and if there is... well that would be news
TAndy 4:47:03 PM
☠️
DJ Pup (host) 4:47:12 PM
close enough! that'l do
Tomi Tyrrell 4:50:50 PM
That mesuggah track was very fun. I had to crank it when I heard the djent.
DJ Pup (host) 4:52:01 PM
Glad it wasn't just me having a good time! haha
Brian D 4:52:49 PM
Had a great time listening today DJ.Pup!
DJ Pup (host) 4:53:37 PM
Thanks Brian! Thanks for tuning in :)
TAndy 4:53:59 PM
Big ups for the show Pup
DJ Pup (host) 4:54:37 PM
grazie grazie
