Good Evening to John and listeners. Happy Easter and A Happy Passover.
Chris Sowa 6:22:45 PM
Enjoying the holiday theme tonight.
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:25:23 PM
I'll bet this rabbit didn't hole up in no log! And it's outta town and livin' yet ...
Patrick White 6:28:01 PM
Always enjoyed attending Rollye Browns a Nuala guitar summit in Buckingham
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:31:42 PM
Yep, the pea patch is safer. Love the Red Clay Ramblers. Saw them in 1993 on Broadway in "Fool Moon" with New Vaudevillian genius-comedians Bill Irwin and David Shiner. The show recording doesn't have this particular "Rabbit" song but it's highly recommended to Ramblers fans current and future.
EricJ Pedersen 6:50:43 PM
Always good to hear Dave van Ronk, especially his softer side. Thanks, John.
michaelk15 7:17:24 PM
No better source for movie recommendations than Music You Can’t Hear on the Radio.
John Weingart (host) 7:18:02 PM
Thanks.
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:29:17 PM
@ EricJ Pedersen Yes, indeed! Dave Van Ronk's memoir "The Mayor of MacDougal Street" is marvelous, and it provided a wealth of material & situations for the Coen Brother's 2013 flick "Inside Llewyn Davis" (although the wry Van Ronk was nothing like the miserably self-absorbed Davis).
John Weingart (host) 7:35:05 PM
Speakng of movies, I w very disaapointe by thqt movie. Any of you like it?
EricJ Pedersen 7:39:04 PM
Oh yeah, I liked it. It was obviously based on DvR's book, and it put down on film what the Great Folk Music Scare was all about.
michaelk15 7:43:01 PM
I enjoyed it, even though
michaelk15 7:43:42 PM
Even though the Llewn Davis character clearly was nothing like Dave van Ronk.
Patrick White 7:50:06 PM
Thanks for great program.John.I did enjoy LD movie.I don't see a lot of money here and I like their sweaters two of the greatest movie criticism lines in movie history.
Rick Horowitz 7:54:30 PM
Thanks, John!
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:55:19 PM
@ John Weingart (host) For me, the greatest disappointment of "Inside Llewyn Davis" was that I had a difficult time feeling empathy -- or even sympathy -- for Davis. He became annoying and, at the end, outright obnoxious. The best tragic heroes and anti-heroes have their "tragic flaw," but we as audience retain some sympathy or at least ;putty for them. Sorry, I stopped caring. But the end -- with Davis's following act on stage being obviously a very young Bob Dylan -- was genius.
Richard from Rocky Hill 7:56:09 PM
Oops, "putty" was supposed to be "pity" ...
John Weingart (host) 7:57:55 PM
Please encourage anyone you know to support WPRB's membership drive starting Wednesdday through April 29
michaelk15 7:58:28 PM
I agree, Richard. It was virtually to like the lead character but I enjoyed many of the others.
michaelk15 7:59:39 PM
Airing this program for more than 40 years certainly merits support.
John Weingart (host) 8:00:11 PM
Good night all - and thanks for being here
