Hello! Hello! Hello!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:02:31 PM
DJ Pup 5:03:22 PM
"too chilly outside today" Greetings!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:03:36 PM
Pup!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:03:59 PM
I have barely left the house today, save for going to get a LEGO set someone nearby was giving away...
Tyler B 5:05:14 PM
Hey tuned in just in time!
Tyler B 5:05:24 PM
Love turning on the radio and hearing that
DJ Pup 5:05:45 PM
A giveaway lego set is a good motivation
Rob from Maryland 5:06:58 PM
Oh no. R.I.P. Spot :-(
Jon Solomon (host) 5:09:56 PM
Met Spot in the 1990s. Very unassuming guy. Once you start noticing his name on records, you see it everywhere.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:10:04 PM
Thank you all for being here!
Joshua Wayne Hensley 5:10:10 PM
hallo fellow kids
Jon Solomon (host) 5:10:17 PM
Joshua!
Brian Kijewski 5:11:04 PM
Hey Jon, hey chat!
Joshua Wayne Hensley 5:11:33 PM
i'm chair dancing, but my back is mad at me so dancing in slomo
Jon Solomon (host) 5:11:53 PM

Spot production discography here is something else - https://www.discogs.com/artist/260821-Spot?type=Credits&subtype=Production&filter_anv=0
DJ Pup 5:14:00 PM
Man, talk about leaving a sonic footprint for the world
Jon Solomon (host) 5:14:14 PM
Pup, not 100% sure all the pieces are there (one bag is open, the rest are sealed) but I think the kid is going to be psyched with my score.
DJ Pup 5:14:42 PM
You also have the option to melt down all of the plastic into a mold that makes one giant, lego piece
DJ Pup 5:14:57 PM
A lego trophy, of sorts
Jon Solomon (host) 5:15:13 PM
Pup, I played something last week (or the week prior) that I discovered 100% because of the cover art that I saw in a Bandcamp email summarizing people I follow's purchases. It was one of yours. Thank you.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:15:37 PM
That could have been worded much better but it was Alhaji Waziri Oshomah either way.
Joshua Wayne Hensley 5:15:52 PM
what a perfect album opener SAD is.
DJ Pup 5:16:12 PM
Bandcamp doing the work for me in part, smart marketers they've got over there! I love those releases, glad it got to you
DJ Pup 5:16:27 PM
@Bandcamp can you hear me? Hire me!
DJ Pup 5:16:45 PM
Guess me tagging bandcamp in here is like a bug banging on the inner wall of a jar... alas
Rob from Maryland 5:16:55 PM
I see Spot produced this record: Raszebrae – Cheap Happiness Or Lofty Suffering. That is one of my favorite records from the 80s.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:17:13 PM
I don't know that one, Rob. Sounds like I should familiarize.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:17:48 PM
Best Yo La Tengo album since...?
Jon Solomon (host) 5:18:49 PM
If you've never seen the movie Heartbeeps by the way, it is even worse than I ever imagined. Spent a fair bit of time tracking it down pre-YouTube when I was trying to rent all sorts of Andy Kaufman VHS tapes and wow.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:19:58 PM
Heard it was bad but it makes The Star Wars Holiday Special look like 2001 by comparison.

Brian D 5:20:42 PM
Loving the new Tengo lp!
Joshua Wayne Hensley 5:20:43 PM
i think best since Fade, but i also have a soft spot for Riot...
Jon Solomon (host) 5:22:25 PM
Oh yeah oh.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:25:17 PM
I hope everyone had a nice week since we were last in the chat.
DJ Pup 5:26:21 PM
I have had at least one cheeseburger since last Wednesday, so I can chalk that up to a win
Jon Solomon (host) 5:26:26 PM
"Kaufman felt the movie was so bad that he personally apologized for it on Late Night with David Letterman, and, as a joke, promised to refund the money of everyone who paid to see it. Letterman's response was that if Kaufman wanted to issue such a refund, he'd "better have change for a 20 (dollar bill).""
Jon Solomon (host) 5:27:27 PM
I had some good middle eastern food over the weekend, went to an exciting college basketball game with the kid, went for a 4.5 mile run, watched 2/3 of Lawrence of Arabia (that we still need to finish).
Jon Solomon (host) 5:27:48 PM
More movies should have a built-in intermission.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:28:34 PM
Also, our dryer broke.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:28:47 PM
Any of you a dryer salesperson?
Jon Solomon (host) 5:29:00 PM
Yeah, that's what I suspected.
Rob from Maryland 5:31:34 PM
Bummer about your dryer, Jon. We did some birding on Sunday morning, seeing a hunting Peregrine Falcon fairly close, then stopping at a local market to snag a delicious lunch.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:31:44 PM
Lovely, Rob!
Michael Y 5:32:16 PM
I recently had some good luck finding a washer/dryer at a scratch and dent appliance place... brand new unit, good discount!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:32:53 PM
That is a good tip. Thing is going in the basement, aesthetics not super important.
Michael Y 5:33:49 PM
Good luck with it!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:34:23 PM
Thank you. We're down 1.5 cars and one dryer, but we will rally!
richard lyons :) 5:37:33 PM
Hello Jon and Keeping Scorers. That PRF Monthly Tribute Series is a good rabbit hole. I wasn't familiar with that! Great start to the show!
Brian D 5:38:36 PM
Lemmy Ted A Dishin.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:39:05 PM
Richard, there's too much good stuff there. I usually don't know where to start. Did listen to all 70 Neil Young covers for The Night Is Young but I doubt I'll get through all the Ramones tributes. Thankfully a listener recommended that specific track to me...
Jon Solomon (host) 5:39:35 PM
There are a few artists (including one in the chat tonight) who I certain listen to each cover they contribute (when they contribute).
Jon Solomon (host) 5:39:41 PM
But it is a lot!
Jon Solomon (host) 5:42:28 PM
Next mic break I will list the three Most Dangerous Games. Will "hunting man" come in at #1? Wait and see!
Joshua Wayne Hensley 5:46:13 PM
Jon - i was really hoping to cover Howling at the Moon, especially after you played it last week. it's one of emily's favorite Ramones songs. alas, i ran out of time
Brian D 5:47:48 PM
"Peg" as we called it.... You need a tree swing. Hopefully installed on a tree over a creek with craggy, rooted banks below. Swing out with one of these in hand: lock blade knife scored at flea market, or screwdriver, sharp stick etc. Lean down one handed OR bonus, no handed upside downish and plant the object in the dirt of the bank of creek. Next person has to swing out, grab same object, swing back and stretch to place it further away or in a more challenging spot... rinse repeat...
Brian D 5:54:45 PM
Thinking, are there any Tony Clifton related bands now... and... search delivers: "Tony Clifton is a three headed Garage Rock'n Roll band from Velsen, The Netherlands."
richard lyons :) 5:55:40 PM
Oh crap, thanks for the reminder, Rob! 😂
richard lyons :) 5:56:09 PM
forgot my laundry
Brian D 5:57:20 PM
Biker Doctor opening up for Blues Lawyer.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:57:30 PM
Brian, a trio where all three members dress like Tony Clifton seems like it probably exists already.
Jon Solomon (host) 5:57:41 PM
Do I need to start issuing on-air laundry reminders?
Jon Solomon (host) 5:58:55 PM
Love this pairing. Amyl, Billy Nomates and now this!
richard lyons :) 5:59:06 PM
Yes, Jon. You can borrow my dryer when I'm done :)
Jon Solomon (host) 5:59:24 PM
Thanks, Richard. Thankfully we have a closer option.

Brian D 6:05:38 PM
My wife just got her set of singing bowls from Nepal !!! Unboxing now!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:06:10 PM
It'll be a setting sun an hour later very soon.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:06:28 PM
Hope she will play along, Brian.
Randy M 6:07:13 PM
Hey folks - sorry, I'm late
Jon Solomon (host) 6:08:00 PM
Randy, no need to be sorry. Welcome!
Brian D 6:12:57 PM
Jon... we set them up on the cabinet right when this started and started playing them... perfect accompinament!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:13:05 PM
Incredible.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:13:24 PM
A bit of housekeeping I didn't mention on-air yet. I'm away next week but before you burst into tears please know that Dana K. will be filling in.
Brian D 6:13:53 PM
Solid good hands to be in there w. that sub.
Randy M 6:14:31 PM
Jon - with DST, those of us on Dawn Patrol will be running before sunrise for a little bit
Jon Solomon (host) 6:14:33 PM
I was delighted she could do it and I'll be listening.
Brian D 6:14:45 PM
My cells are all aligned now... 7 bowls and 2 speakers worth.... vibrations resonating throughout the house...
richard lyons :) 6:15:15 PM
And I think Dana K is filling in for Dan Ruccia Monday too!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:15:32 PM
Randy, I got into the Broad Street Run this year so I've been back at it more recently. 4.5 miles on Sunday went mostly well and I've got a new head cover that I like tons more than what I'd been running with.
Brian D 6:15:53 PM
The 7 beautiful embroidered "donut" rests for the bowls are just icing under the cakes. Like a Nepalese version of the colored Fisher Price ring toss toy. Beauty little cushions they are
Jon Solomon (host) 6:16:19 PM
Brian, perfect description. If you stack them do they turn into the Fisher Price Little People dog though?
Jon Solomon (host) 6:16:57 PM
We have one of these in our home - https://www.ebay.com/itm/174415409020?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=174415409020&targetid=1263104805286&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9003957&poi=&campaignid=14859008593&mkgroupid=130497710760&rlsatarget=pla-1263104805286&abcId=9300678&merchantid=114608592&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgaGgBhC8ARIsAAAyLfH1CFvyRzi0HvnVftvYAFoLoghJLU3cEuwiA1pHefv4Yj7gHsjfBC0aAlulEALw_wcB
Jon Solomon (host) 6:17:03 PM

Jon Solomon (host) 6:28:00 PM

Brian D 6:28:47 PM
Reheated homemade black bean soup with added white rice and shredded chicken is on deck....
Jon Solomon (host) 6:32:19 PM
Excellent. Zero idea what dinner will be. Waiting on a "heat up a pot of water" text now that tonight's piano lesson is PPD.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:32:31 PM
So I'll bliss out to this in the interim.
Brian D 6:35:53 PM
Soothing and yet building in intensity. Great evening mood. Good cooking accompaniment
Brian D 6:36:40 PM
Read this the other day on the Sleaford Mods: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/mar/05/sleaford-mods-uk-grim-crazy-golf-interview-jason-williamson-andrew-fearn
Jon Solomon (host) 6:37:34 PM
Bookmarked for later. Thanks, Brian.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:38:12 PM
Thought this was interesting re: what we're all listening to:
Jon Solomon (host) 6:38:24 PM
"Eastman's score...is only five pages of manuscript, and the entire work is based around one melodic building block, a two-note theme in the vibraphone that emerges from a forest of bells."
Randy M 6:38:28 PM
I can't find it quickly but I saw a Little Tykes hearse on IG the other day
Jon Solomon (host) 6:39:01 PM
Found it!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:39:03 PM

Randy M 6:39:08 PM
I'm WAY behind on chat
Randy M 6:40:30 PM
YEP!!! Your Google Fu is superior
Randy M 6:41:25 PM
Unless we follow the same people, which IS the way
Jon Solomon (host) 6:43:10 PM
I did a quick image search which sent me on my way.
Randy M 6:47:35 PM
Didja have to say "send me on my way?"
Jon Solomon (host) 6:47:52 PM
I did not!
Randy M 6:48:10 PM
Now I have Ice Age loops in my head
Jon Solomon (host) 6:48:16 PM
Apologies.
Randy M 6:49:12 PM
It happens; these things are what make me good at Jeopardy!
Randy M 6:50:31 PM
The lemur in "Ice Age" was also the "Clown" in Spawn
Jon Solomon (host) 6:51:41 PM
He was also a Super Mario Brother.
Ossy 6:51:48 PM
Merry Woosa Wonder Women day!
Jon Solomon (host) 6:51:56 PM
Good evening, Ossy.
Randy M 6:52:15 PM
And sous-chef of the food-truck in "Chef"
Jon Solomon (host) 6:54:31 PM
His credits list is long, varied and at times perplexing.
Jon Solomon (host) 6:55:56 PM
I watched a TV show recently where a DJ used a pre-recorded segment as cover for a crime they committed so I'm trying to post in the chat regularly so you don't think I'm up to anything!
Captain Ahab 6:58:21 PM
greetings from the airport
Jon Solomon (host) 6:58:52 PM
Did this piece start before you departed for the airport?
Jon Solomon (host) 6:59:04 PM
I hope you get some good writing done on the plane.
Ossy 6:59:29 PM
So many beautiful songs hearing lately, like Summer Anika Connection and Rosasolis!
Captain Ahab 6:59:43 PM
Haha no I left for the airport pretty soon after my show and got dinner along the way, so I was already en route
Captain Ahab 7:00:29 PM
Thanks! For once I submitted an abstract based on writing I already had on hand, I just have to trim it down a bit further and tweak it to presentation style
Captain Ahab 7:00:37 PM
So no stress express
Jon Solomon (host) 7:01:02 PM
Excellent. What was dinner?
Captain Ahab 7:01:10 PM
lol mcdonalds
Captain Ahab 7:01:55 PM
I only really allow myself mcdonalds or other similarly terrible fast food when flying
Rob from Maryland 7:01:59 PM
We're loving the Julius Eastman track
Jon Solomon (host) 7:02:25 PM
Rob, me too. I had it in my "play folder" for many months but somehow tonight was the right night.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:02:35 PM
No shame, Ahab.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:03:08 PM
There was a Newark Airport burrito spot I thought was legitimately good.
Randy M 7:03:12 PM
Great show today @CaptainAhab - it's funny when someone is reading in a foreign language then "vampire" pops out - clear as the moon
Brian D 7:03:31 PM
Sublime Jon. Thanks for playing this. Made our evening
Randy M 7:04:27 PM
I have a "State of the Arts" episode on my DVD about Newark Airport
Randy M 7:05:29 PM
I remember an Arshile Gorky exhibit about it, too
Captain Ahab 7:05:33 PM
haha thanks Randy!
sean burns 7:05:49 PM
This last hour has been one of the most transcendent ones I've experienced lately..
Randy M 7:05:52 PM
His WPA work
Captain Ahab 7:06:07 PM
speaking of vampires, I recently started watching what we do in the shadows (the tv show, but the original film is great too)
Captain Ahab 7:06:14 PM
It's wonderful, highly recommend
Jon Solomon (host) 7:06:18 PM
Sean, that is kind of you to say.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:06:46 PM
A friend worked on season one of that show. I could totally hear a joke or two in his voice.
Captain Ahab 7:06:54 PM
oy I spy a UFÖ over lappland track!
Captain Ahab 7:07:04 PM
or rather, över
Jon Solomon (host) 7:07:11 PM
Oy indeed. Lemmy Ön The Beach!

David Byrne - Vampire Hunter
Brian D 7:08:18 PM
Future long form ideas Phila local - ish gong and other music instrument maker the late great Harry Bertoia. Beautiful vibrations. He made these sound sculpture instruments, floor chimes. Long metal rods in a flower like shape that ring ave buzz and wave around etc

This Ain't No Party (the party from Blade III), This Ain't No Disco (the disco from Blade).
Jon Solomon (host) 7:10:57 PM
Ahab, I have a similar thing to your fast food -> airport but it is a certain snack I only eat while on long drives. It is not a home / sitting still snack. Ideally enjoyed on the PA Turnpike.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:11:46 PM
Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard & Onion Pretzel Pieces, baby.
Captain Ahab 7:12:20 PM
oh man
Captain Ahab 7:12:27 PM
those are sooo good but sooo bad haha
Captain Ahab 7:12:38 PM
perfect example
Michael Y 7:13:21 PM
Oh man those things are dangerous but delicious
Jon Solomon (host) 7:13:30 PM
Wish I had some now, truth be told.
Ossy 7:13:33 PM
Ah the smelly honey mustard and onion pretzels, my one female friend eats, lol
Jon Solomon (host) 7:14:12 PM
But if I had some I'd have to be driving and I'm clearly on the radio.
Randy M 7:14:33 PM
I dunno about snacks that are so tasty but your have to brush your teeth immediately afterwards #maybe_just _me
Jon Solomon (host) 7:15:33 PM
I went to Boston the weekend before last, drove straight to a party in NJ, got there at 9 and had to manufacture a dinner from assorted snacks. It was impossible to find the right sweet / salty balance.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:15:52 PM
This meant I ate a dinner of white chocolate pretzels, almonds and olives.
Captain Ahab 7:16:14 PM
All the important food groups
Randy M 7:16:29 PM
Ew, Boston - so sorry
Jon Solomon (host) 7:16:51 PM
Not my finest culinary moment but I was so hungry and did not know that a room full of teens would keep playing a dancing video game for that many additional hours!
Joshua Wayne Hensley 7:18:40 PM
Oooh I love those Snyder's HMAO pieces. But yeah, best saved for a rare indulgence!
TAndy 7:22:51 PM
KANETAKIT.
TAndy 7:23:12 PM
I overslept dammit I missed most of the music
Gautham Kalva 7:24:21 PM
Hi @Jon Solomon can you please let me more about he TVZ tribute show you mentioned - did u say it was Worcester?
Jon Solomon (host) 7:25:41 PM
Hey, TAndy!
TAndy 7:25:57 PM
Evenin!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:25:58 PM
Gautham, give me one second and I'll find. The first try at a show got snowed out.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:27:22 PM
Ok, looks like it hasn't been rescheduled yet but I'd follow Jake McKelvie (link to his Bandcamp in the playlist) for news. You can snag his cover there too!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:28:35 PM
Hope that helps.

Ambrose!
Jon Solomon (host) 7:53:26 PM
You're all so welcome. Was fun.
Brian Kijewski 7:53:36 PM
I've heard mention of Windsor for the Derby a bunch over the years but never got a chance to listen. That set sounded quite nice and I'm interested to investigate further.
Ambrose Hughes 7:53:56 PM
That's got to feel good indeed.
Jon Solomon (host) 7:54:25 PM
I can't quite give a great tip on where to start, very consistent band.
DJPUP 7:54:41 PM
Great show tonight! Thanks for the tunes and tales
Jon Solomon (host) 7:55:02 PM
Thanks, Pup. You on tomorrow?
Jon Solomon (host) 7:55:19 PM
If so, looking forward to catching your show en route to The Barge.
Ossy 7:55:50 PM
Nice closing sounds, feels like Nintendo 64 sounds!
