Welcome to the 1st Summer Season Recherché! Chat is engaged!
Rofflestomp 5:01:50 PM
Hi Readie! Summer doth rear it's head this day.
Readie Righteous (host) 5:04:59 PM
Hey Roffle! It sure feels like summer today! But we had a fabulous Spring!
Rofflestomp 5:05:17 PM
Very, very true!
Readie Righteous (host) 5:05:58 PM
I never knew of a 'no winter' into a full-fledged spring!
fr1dayafternoon 5:07:57 PM
Play the Type O Negative version next
Rofflestomp 5:08:33 PM
Yuppers, just weird and almost zero snow. Me thinks there be something to this climate change shenanigan.
fr1dayafternoon 5:08:56 PM
Hey, everyone. We’re all here. This is where we’re supposed to be. Today is Friday, we made it.
Rofflestomp 5:10:40 PM
I have to check my ticket, but that sounds good to me fr1day.
Readie Righteous (host) 5:10:56 PM
@fr1day - yes indeed - so glad we made it!
Rob from Maryland 5:25:25 PM
Hello everyone
Rofflestomp 5:25:42 PM
Swooning for the heat or for Frank must have been a topic once upon a time.
Readie Righteous (host) 5:26:22 PM
Hey Rob! Welcome!
Readie Righteous (host) 5:27:09 PM
@Roffle - yeah- my mom told me he was like the Beatles - everyone screamed for ole blue eyes...
Rofflestomp 5:31:07 PM
I think swooning for Taylor Swift is as close as it gets today. It's a mob phenomenon way above my paygrade to ever understand..
Readie Righteous (host) 5:31:39 PM
Billie Eilish too
Rofflestomp 5:32:26 PM
Right? Same sorta level for sure.
Commie Francis 5:35:11 PM
Scale of 1-10 how hot is it in the barge right now??
Readie Righteous (host) 5:36:19 PM
It's cool as a cucumber @Commie! So 1! But my energy is 10...
Commie Francis 5:36:45 PM
Oh hooray on both counts
Readie Righteous (host) 5:37:34 PM
Oh yes! Machines and DJ all cool!
Readie Righteous (host) 5:38:03 PM
A little oasis in the swelter of Princeton
Readie Righteous (host) 5:43:39 PM
Apparently at 6 pm there's supposed to be thunderstorms (?!?!?!) The sun is blazin' rn!
Rofflestomp 5:45:08 PM
Princeton has been a oasis for me time to time for various reasons since I was around four years old. I keep a little piece of flat slate from the old junction rail stop roof in my wallet. lol.
Rofflestomp 5:54:28 PM
One of my young memories was that same station surrounded by snow and enjoying the heater in the building. Ironically obtuse weather wise.
Alan Pasnyk 5:54:43 PM
Hello Readie and Righteous survivors of the weeek!!! Yay!!
Readie Righteous (host) 5:55:57 PM
@Roffle- lol! amazing! Princeton is a great lil village
Rofflestomp 5:56:29 PM
Hey Alan! The moon is in play this week and this is great weather for it.
Readie Righteous (host) 5:56:31 PM
Hi Alan! Good to see you! Survivors unite!
Alan Pasnyk 5:57:11 PM
Hope y'all had a great Memoroal Day weekend!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:01:20 PM
Pretty quiet one for me, Alan...and I don't remember what I was doing, either lol!
DubNP 6:02:14 PM
Song I needed to hear that I didn’t know I needed to hear.
Alan Pasnyk 6:02:32 PM
@ Readie: It was windy Memorial Day, so I flew a kite! What the hell! :)
Readie Righteous (host) 6:02:43 PM
Hey DubNP! glad to oblige!!
DubNP 6:02:55 PM
So good.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:03:47 PM
IKR? Kind of ride along on a wave...
Readie Righteous (host) 6:09:09 PM
@Alan - oh yeah, that's right - the wind...and the beautiful wind chimes having a field day! That's very cool - did you fly the kite at the beach?
Alan Pasnyk 6:10:43 PM
@Readie: Nope, we have a large open field here..
Readie Righteous (host) 6:11:34 PM
@Alan- that is really great - a land baron, eh?
Alan Pasnyk 6:12:47 PM
Readie: It's rented out for corn this year.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:13:52 PM
and when does the corn get as high as an elephant's eye?
Alan Pasnyk 6:14:51 PM
....but Saturday night i saw the longest lasting meteor ever, at 9:30 PM. It went from South to North and lasted about 6 seconds!!
Alan Pasnyk 6:15:41 PM
...Corn that high at about end of July actually..
Readie Righteous (host) 6:17:11 PM
Oh man, that was a great one! That wasn't too late either...
Ossy 6:19:21 PM
Hello Patty Readie!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:19:23 PM
pass that bottle to me!!
Alan Pasnyk 6:19:25 PM
Gonna check with my friends about that, 9:30 PM on a beautiful evening...
Readie Righteous (host) 6:19:37 PM
Ossy, smoooooth!
Rofflestomp 6:21:20 PM
I have seen many meteor showers in the Mohave Desert, but nothing like that. Itsy Bitsy's every couple of seconds is cool though too, but 6 seconds is awesome.
Alan Pasnyk 6:21:41 PM
@ Readie: BTW I took the FM into the shower with me, really liked hearing the Peggy Lee and Sinatra!!!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:23:20 PM
@Alan- how cool is that- I often take WPRB into the shower...some nice resonance of course...
Alan Pasnyk 6:23:43 PM
...Especially Peggy Lee, loved that post WWII stuff!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:24:46 PM
@Roffle - when I was at Lake George years ago, I think it was the Pleides - amazing - no light pollution at all! So many and so quick!
Ossy 6:25:03 PM
Peggy Lee, cute in Lady and The Tramp (1950s version)
Rofflestomp 6:27:28 PM
@Readie, yes, yes I was blown away at how fast they are too. Riveting.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:28:11 PM
@Ossy - that was a great movie...that scene with the spaghetti - CUTE!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:29:08 PM
Come on down to my Barge, baby!
Alan Pasnyk 6:29:27 PM
Readie, Ossy..I saw that movie a looong time ago
Alan Pasnyk 6:31:14 PM
It's Officially Summer when you get out of the shower and you're not Cold! ..and then you listen to Readie's Summer Show! It's Here!!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:31:57 PM
@Alan - and I still remember it....that smoooooth animation - like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella....how is it I can still see the prince on the white steed - that horse's main gently wafting in the breeze....funny what you remember!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:32:21 PM
*mane*
Readie Righteous (host) 6:32:48 PM

Randy M 6:36:35 PM
@Roffle re: Winter - as a Runner, Surfer & overall Weather Geek, I noticed (by various apps) that the Ocean temp in AC never got below 40* all winter
Rofflestomp 6:36:55 PM
OMG, a guy was running with a pizza to catch a bus. I hope it ends well for him, but one should not run with a pizza.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:37:03 PM
JIMBOOOOO! HEY!!!!
sean burns 6:37:50 PM
It sounds like a perfect Segue to kites are fun by the free design!
Randy M 6:38:21 PM
@Alan - "but Saturday night i saw the longest lasting meteor ever, at 9:30 PM. It went from South to North and lasted about 6 seconds!!" sure it wasn't the ISS? I've seen that dozens of times and it's so cool
Rofflestomp 6:40:08 PM
@Randy, this is a weird time as far a climate and on top of it Betelgeuse might go supernova. Now that seems portentous. :)
Alan Pasnyk 6:40:23 PM
Randy: I've seen the ISS about 30 times, but this thing was really "Tearin' Ass Movin"
Dá Bəng Gôu 6:40:46 PM
it's gonna storm I'm hiding
Randy M 6:42:42 PM
If Betelgeuse "goes" that means it already "went" - right about the time of Magellan
Dá Bəng Gôu 6:42:45 PM
nice pictures in playlist thanks
Rofflestomp 6:44:49 PM
@Randy, light sees no time so it's just for us in space and time. It's crazytown out there for sure. :)
Addie 🐍 🐍 Plum 6:45:39 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 6:52:55 PM
Hi Da Bang! Is it storming yet where you are?
Readie Righteous (host) 6:53:50 PM
@Da Bang Gou- you are so welcome!
Ossy 6:55:15 PM
Readie - That reminds me, great tribute of Linda last week, especially that Rock A Doodle 70s song! Also a blast on Sunday night of Patty doing Tina Turner Tribute, as highly expected!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:58:54 PM
@Addie- good on you for giving blood today - you just saved THREE LIVES!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:00:21 PM
storm boom in horizon, dark clouds, no rain yet,
Alan Pasnyk 7:01:11 PM
We really need the rain...
Readie Righteous (host) 7:01:48 PM
@Ossy! thanaks- I really enjoyed diving deeply into Linda's oeuvre! SHe's such an all-around artist!
Tim Conheeney 7:02:50 PM
Hi chat. Thanks for the tuneage, RR!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:03:06 PM
OOOOh- it's getting dark out there! batten down the hatches!!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:03:27 PM
Hi Tim C! Welcome! You are so welcome!!!
Amy Erma Lee 7:05:58 PM
Hi all. It’s been a beautiful & sunny day here in the AC area.
David F 7:06:52 PM
summer should remind us of the shore and how we're killing whales and dolphins under the guise of fighting the spectre of climate change while industrializing the oceans. Where are the champions of yesterday who fought to save the whales. I'm embarrassed by what our society has become. I guess I'll write a song about it that will never be heard. Next time you're at the beach and there is no windmill farm say a prayer of thanks....before it's too late.
Amy Erma Lee 7:07:20 PM
I’m not bragging-it’s pretty much the only thing we have going right now.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:08:26 PM
@Amy - nice! down the shore!!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:11:00 PM
@David F - a travesty! I keep thinking- I'm glad I had a chance to enjoy decades of a reasonably healthy earth....but ....
Readie Righteous (host) 7:14:26 PM
@David- remembering- from 1970 I guess - Crosby and Nash- "To the Last Whale"...they don't write songs like that - where are the protest songwriters?
Randy M 7:15:22 PM
"Healthy" earth is a Human construct - she was perfectly fine while acid rain came down for a few million years; humans, however would've called that "toxic environment" - she'll be fine; us? Who knows?
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:15:22 PM
yes, ticks, viruses, and botulisms o my... auntie Em the humans don't stand a chance..
Randy M 7:15:52 PM
👍
Readie Righteous (host) 7:16:44 PM
Will AI make humanity extinct?
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:16:57 PM
I had some magic slippers .. but can't find them now..
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:17:38 PM
I think they are in a box marked "The Sixties"
Readie Righteous (host) 7:18:15 PM
@Da - lol
Randy M 7:18:46 PM
I read something not long ago - I'll have to find it - but, it said that if the Yucatán asteroid came 30 minutes later, it would landed in the ocean, with far less cataclysmic consequences - still bad, but not 95% Mass Extinction level
David F 7:19:04 PM
A great song. I don't know what happened to people. Van Morisson and EC are still at it but most are lost, imo. I would love to hear Summertime In England, btw. I love your show and have been a faithful listener for a long time. Good stuff.
Amy Erma Lee 7:19:18 PM
Terminators Are Go!
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:19:32 PM
I went swimming in a fountain once .. It felt cat-o-clis-mic
Randy M 7:20:55 PM
@Readie - "Will AI make humanity extinct?"'depends on how you define "humanity" --- in some ways, it's already gone, and not coming back
Alan Pasnyk 7:21:11 PM
Everyone should read Al Gore's book "An Inconvenient Truth" but seriously, he should've given the book a better title. Like "Read This, Do This, OR ELSE!!"
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:22:40 PM
Fire trucks just went .. an inconvenient truth.. more thunder booms
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:23:47 PM
We're standing fast we just saw a flying monkey.
Alan Pasnyk 7:24:07 PM
Q: Will AI really be able to "Feel" anything while listening to Music?????
Dale Hazelton 7:24:36 PM
herro dere. i have this somewhere - was it on a david byrne tropicale c.d.?
Randy M 7:25:20 PM
I read the books - the Flying Monkeys were actually good guys, in a bad situation
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:25:24 PM
Music ? What's that ?

Amy Erma Lee 7:28:30 PM
(while wondering how the reception is in our underground bunker…), I’m happy to report the one-legged catbird that appeared in my yard last year came back!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:29:05 PM
@Dale- hi there! Yes- the Beleza Tropical album curated by David Byrne!
Teresa P 7:29:17 PM
So lovely to hear some solo Lo Borges! I love his voice and his songwriting on Clube Esquina.
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:29:56 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 7:30:29 PM
Hi Teresa P! Lovely to see you! I love Borges voice as well!
Randy M 7:30:50 PM

Alan Pasnyk 7:30:58 PM
@ Amy: Amazing! How they have such a memory, and after traveling such large distances!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:34:40 PM
@Alan - Alan can feel nothing...but once they are TAUGHT to feel...uh oh...
Alan Pasnyk 7:36:05 PM
Readie: Teach AI to feel, or just mimic feeling, kinda like what really IS Consciousness???
Dá Bəng Gôu 7:36:55 PM
"Feelings, nothing more than feelings Trying to forget my feelings of love Teardrops rolling down on my face Trying to forget my feelings of love"
Amy Erma Lee 7:37:00 PM
@Alan - it truly is amazing to watch-I’ll say her, based on behavior. Paired up this year & haven’t seen her until after the male tries to distract.
Teresa P 7:37:00 PM
I didn't know that birds returned to their nests, if the nests were left undisturbed until this spring. A pair of mourning (morning?) doves who abandoned their nest after rearing two hatchlings last June came back to the nest -- conveniently located in our doorless garage -- and had two more sets (so, 4 altogether) of baby birds over the past 2 months. What a treat to see that transpire!
Randy M 7:37:17 PM
Catbirds ate out blueberries a couple years ago - we have now implemented a multi-tiered defense system: two layers of bird netting, CDs and other reflective devices hanging from branches to disorient them, and a discarded length of black garden hose pretending to be a large snake ... these were quite effective last Summer, yielding 6 quarts of blueberries from just two bushes
Alan Pasnyk 7:39:21 PM
@ Randy: But I love their song, kinda like the Jazz Artists of the bird kingdom..
Teresa P 7:39:53 PM
@Randy -- What an ingenious defense system! I've heard of a 'cat-baffle' before but not a 'catbird-baffle' until now!
Randy M 7:40:24 PM
Yes, very saxophone-ish - mockingbirds, on the other hand ...
Readie Righteous (host) 7:40:55 PM
Eckhart Tolle has a lot to say about consciousness.."it just is...!"
Randy M 7:43:05 PM
@Teresa - a friend of mine has a "cage" built around hers - a solid frame with netting attached; this lets the bushes "breathe and grow" more than covering with netting does
Amy Erma Lee 7:43:22 PM
Currently, I do not hang any nice clothing outside to dry, as, well, mulberries are ripe & the birds like them…
David F 7:44:19 PM
Thank you Readie. Bless you. As an avid birder I highly recommend the Ocean City Visitors Center on the 9th St bridge. There is a Heron Rookery that has a variety of wading birds and their chicks right now including Great White Egrets, Little Blue Herons, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Yellow Crowned and Black Crowned Herons and more...

Randy M 7:48:32 PM
"mulberries are ripe & the birds like them…" I imagine a Jackson Pollock situation
Amy Erma Lee 7:50:11 PM
@Randy - you would be correct.
