Alan Pasnyk 6:14:54 PM
Hi Readie! Getting ready for fall here...
David F 6:15:18 PM
Hi. Love this nice jazz
Alan Pasnyk 6:15:32 PM
It was Summer, then Instant Fall..
Readie Righteous (host) 6:15:55 PM
When I walk in the churchyard, there are many flying around...looking for bits of food left by the mourners...though I'm not sure if they're hawks or turkey buzzards....
Readie Righteous (host) 6:16:37 PM
Hey David F - lotsa jazz tonight- you will like it I'm sure!
David F 6:17:13 PM
In other bird news, one of the flamingos in Chambersburg was injured by a snapping turtle and is being cared for by a wildlife rehab center.
Alan Pasnyk 6:17:31 PM
Readie: hawks have straight winged silouette, Turkey Buzzards have a "V" shape. Birders call them "TV's"
TAndy 6:17:46 PM
:( I was worried for those flamingos too. Hopefully the one recovers well <3
Readie Righteous (host) 6:18:12 PM
Healing vibes to the flamingos!
Alan Pasnyk 6:18:33 PM
Beautiful Birds. Amen..
David F 6:18:35 PM
They're hoping the other one will wait til it can be returned. they mate for life but the waiting is.....
Readie Righteous (host) 6:21:20 PM
@Alan- thanks for that fact, Alan - I think these are hawks then- I'll observe next trek...
Brian D 6:22:07 PM
In this great color contrast time of Sept Oct you can see the nice reddish under wing colors of the hawks esp this time of evening
Readie Righteous (host) 6:22:37 PM
@Brian D- I'll bring my monoculars next time....
TAndy 6:22:38 PM
Is it not possible to also catch the other one so they can spend time together?
Brian D 6:23:20 PM
Vultures pretty black under carriage
Readie Righteous (host) 6:23:31 PM
Or is it "monocular"? lol
David F 6:25:44 PM
I don't know TAndy. Pretty stressful for the poor things. The snapper had the one pretty good and it had to be beaten off by a birder. Hopefully, it will wait....?
Brian D 6:25:44 PM
Saw a heron doing its point head strut the other day on back roads of Jerz in way home from shore. Moving steadily across someone's yard. I gave the oncoming traffic a few flick on / offs of lights after i paused and looked
Readie Righteous (host) 6:25:45 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 6:26:17 PM

TAndy 6:29:16 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 6:29:56 PM

TAndy 6:31:32 PM
https://www.hobokengirl.com/quaker-parrots-edgewater/
TAndy 6:32:02 PM
I keep seeing quaker parrot, rock parrot, monk parakeet all used as interchangable names for these critters
David F 6:32:26 PM
I know I'm not supposed to feed wildlife but I can't help myself. I'd like to see them parakeets. I've heard about them but never got to that part of Jersey.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:32:26 PM
Thx for the pics, TAndy- I have indeed seen them- though I thought they were finches...
David F 6:33:58 PM
In Florida I had 3 scrub jays land on my head and my shirt. They're the friendliest birds I even came across.
