For the holiday weekend: Power pop of varying stripes; a brand new Wilco album; a couple 'Circles' leftovers from last week; local band The Moles; and songs about baseball and other/darker/timely themes: contrarianism; fuel prices, rainforest destruction; religion and guns; corporate downsizing and abortion. (...enjoyable songs, nonetheless)

Worlds turning, spinning records, ferris wheels and metaphoric merry-go-rounds ... today's theme goes 'round and 'round. With a lot of '60s pop, psychedelia, and traditional songs in the mix.

The country/hillbilly side of rock and roll ... a couple recent HoF inductees and some criminally overlooked artists ... and nobody cares if you don't think it's rock and roll, you philistine. This week: indie rock, '60s & power pop hits and covers; Go-Go's and May Day sets; Lydia Mendoza; Rachel Sweet; Mary Lorson & Billy Cote of Madder Rose; two Sinatras and (there were always) three Cocteau Twins. Mostly upbeat in the first hour, quieter stuff in the second.

Changing things up with several oddities this week. Weird foreign pop, psychedelia & roots music ... plus: Steely Dan songs, a cat with the blues; Neil Innes; audio from movies, TV and British pirate radio; and selections from Tellus, the '80s audio cassette magazine.

Odes to 4/20, Record Store Day and Chicago (Wilco, alt-country, the Cubs, and the Old Town School of Folk Music); plus bonus tracks, B-sides and lots of pedal steel.

Songs for spring: Baseball, birds, Easter ... plus: soul, new wave, power pop & twisted country ... birds of Alaska & Hawaii, guest DJ John Lennon, and what if the Beatles never broke up?
No actual birds, Beatles or Rolling Stones were harmed in this show.

How I Spent Rex Manning Day; local favorites (Five-2 and Jim Miller); poetry remixes, Buddhist and political affirmations; Billy Bragg, Tom Petty, Stones and Go-Go's songs; alt-country and new indie.

Press Record & Play -- a Mix Tape / Dedication Special, with songs & sets for loyal listeners and fellow WRFI volunteer DJs & program hosts.
