Where my ghosts at?
Skinner 8:25:45 PM
Hey Jess! Skinner here!
Skinner 8:26:36 PM
Jen and I are drinking smoothies, eating popcorn, and vining to your show.
Skinner 8:26:51 PM
Vibing, too!
Jess Speer (host) 8:27:20 PM
Haha awesome!
Jess Speer (host) 8:27:32 PM
Popcorn & smoothies sounds goooood.
Skinner 8:28:53 PM
Our dinner of champions! Acai, banana, wheatgrass, pineapple, and some almond milk!
Jess Speer (host) 8:31:31 PM
Usually I'm hounding Chuk here about what kind of soup he's eating and it occurs to me that a smoothie is kind of a cold fruit soup.
Skinner 8:33:32 PM
Yes, I want some of his creations. We ate all weekend, so we decided we needed to
Skinner 8:33:58 PM
take a step back and have some simple meals.
Skinner 8:35:27 PM
Did you make it out to Cold Choir at Revolve this weekend. I wanted to but had out of town guests with very different musical tastes than me.
Jess Speer (host) 8:39:43 PM
I didn't, but Pete (my coparent) booked that one and he said it was an ok turnout and an amazing show. He said Cold Choir should be playing arena shows.
Skinner 8:42:16 PM
Agreed. Last time I caught them we were trying to figure out the record labels that need to pick them up. They literally are up there with the best of that genre. Plus they're so darn nice. Hate that I couldn't get out to support them.
Jess Speer (host) 8:56:05 PM
Aw, hopefully next time!
Skinner 9:00:12 PM
I'm sitting here reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury and Jen is reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris. You and Pete reading any good books lately?
Jess Speer (host) 9:08:54 PM
Oh man I haven't read Bradbury in years, I should revisit that. I'm reading a bunch of painful self-help books right now, but recently read and loved Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi. Her books are so surreal and kind of creepy. I really enjoy them.
Skinner 9:12:03 PM
Ooh, I'll have to check her out. Sounds great. My son had this book for a class, so I snagged it when he was finished. I hadn't read Bradbury in ages, either. I'm slogging through some Lovecraft, too, for spooky October reading. Kind of like scifi Poe, but dated writing particularly in reference to people of color. So the racist stuff is hard to swallow.
Jess Speer (host) 9:12:57 PM
Oh, but on the vintage sci fi tip, my summer pool book was a collection of short sci fi stories from the midcentury time I think, and there was this really amazing Ursula K LeGuin story told from the perspective of an oak tree that really stuck with me. Also one about a humanoid hamburger man that was very 1970s far out, man.
Skinner 9:15:50 PM
Sounds awesome. I love far out short stories. Writing both authors down for future reference.
Jess Speer (host) 9:16:09 PM
Ooh! I found the story online about the oak tree

Gonna hit the sack. Our friends were great this weekend, but we stayed up all night all weekend playing ancient card games. Great show! Catch you later!
Skinner 9:16:59 PM
Thanks for the link!!
Jess Speer (host) 9:19:54 PM
Thanks! Have a good night!
