A Little Help From My Friends

    Talk

    With Sam Rigor, Sana Jumani

A Little Help From My Friends is an advice show where we give (unqualified but awesome) advice, share stories, and talk about anonymous topics and questions sent in by real listeners via our social media. We also have live guests and callers who ask questions and help us give live advice for our listeners. The stories can be awkward, silly, serious, sticky, or otherwise. Our goal is to let people know they aren't alone in whatever they face, through giving advice from our personal experiences. We start with 20 minutes of honest talk/advice followed by 20 minutes of music (of any genre) that we find relates to the topic and possibly comfort the viewer in their need of a friend. This cycle repeats for the rest of the show (with, at most, 3 topics being discussed) until the last 20 minutes of the show, at which point we DJs take turns telling short stories/situations that we are facing this week and finish the show with advice and relevant songs. Each DJ has a different taste in music, so the artists we play can be anything from contemporary pop, to obscure indie, to alternative, to oldies, to folk! We even have special themed shows where we give advice on a specific topic throughout the show, and play music more focused on the theme (for example, in our "Dads" show, we gave advice on what to get your dad for father's day or his birthday among other topics and played music that reminded us of our dads).
