What's the one day when everyone gets to be el jefe? A day when it really is all about you, if you want it to be. A day when meals, sweets and gifts are offered to you, songs are sung in your honor, and you get to dance however you want, Your birthday! I just had mine--a milestone or a millstone perhaps--the only year divisible by the first 6 integers, and the start of my 7th decade. Yes, I'm 60! Thanks to all my well-wishers for their messages, and to all my detractors for staying mostly quiet that day! My loved ones and family came through with an amazing set of humorous cards and gifts, including a jar of delicious saurkraut with a note reading--to a great sour friend. It can be tough to be el jefe de cumpleanos, even for a day--I always prefer to celebrate someone else instead of myself--but this year was a lovely reminder that, if only once a year, it's great to be the boss!
