Ochs wrote "I Ain't Marching Any More" as American involvement in the Vietnam War was beginning to grow. The song criticizes all of American military history from the perspective of a weary soldier who has been present at every single war since the War of 1812. The chorus notes that "it's always the old who lead us to the war, always the young to fall" and asks whether the price of military victory has been too high. Ochs said of the song that it "borders between pacifism and treason, combining the best qualities of both." He also wrote "the fact that you won't be hearing this song on the radio is more than enough justification for the writing of it."

Some corporate media appear agog that militarized federal agents—deployed with a mission reflected in Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s comment that city streets are a “battlespace,” filled with what acting Homeland Security chief Chad Wolf called “violent mobs”—would go ahead and tear gas protesters in Portland, Oregon, even though Portland’s Democratic mayor, Tom Wheeler, was among them. On July second, 2020, the economist and former Finance Minister of Greece, Yanis Varoufakis, gave a webinar on how the current collapse of the world economy might change capitalism forever by challenging the survival of private banking and the functioning of the stock exchange. Our guest is Heidi Peltier, author of a new report called “The Growth of the ‘Camo Economy’ and the Commercialization of the Post 9/11 Wars.” Heidi Peltier is the Director of the “20 Years of War” project at Boston University and part of the Costs of War Project at Brown University. She has written reports and articles on various costs of war, including the hidden costs of financing war through debt, as well as the opportunity costs of spending federal dollars on the war economy instead of on other domestic priorities such as healthcare, education, or clean energy.

Josh Ruebner, who currently teaches at Georgetown University, for many years worked in the trenches of Washington, DC lobbying Congress on behalf of the Palestinian People for The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, a national coalition of hundreds of groups working to advocate for Palestinian rights and a shift in US policy. Given this Congress, can you imagine a more difficult mission? He is also author of Shattered Hopes: Obama's Failure to Broker Israeli-Palestinian Peace (Verso, 2013) and Israel: Democracy or Apartheid State? (Olive Branch Press, 2018).
