Welcome to Low End Theory. If I were to describe the aesthetics of Low End Theory as a musical territory or space, its borders would be provided by doom/stoner/psych metal on one side, contemporary prog and prog metal on another, experimental/electronic/folk on a third, and enclosed finally by the long arc of classic and contemporary post-punk that bends towards dub. The mission of this radio show is to conjure a farrago of heavy sonic fictions of sound, words, and music appropriate and fitting to the heaviness of the times. But fear not, this Low End Theory is not dour or depressing; on the contrary, we seek out the joyful and ecstatic in the acoustic depths of the low end’s vibrating, pulsing heart. And who among us does not need some joy anchored in the deep sonority of the low end, especially now?

You, along with the other great DJs are the ones who made this station what is was, and thankfully, have given us this wonderful gift of returning to help get us through all this nonsense. Musically, it feels like the mid 80s and 90s when the Z was at it’s best. With you and others that have jumped back onboard, to compliment James, Jeff, Peter and a few others who have held the torch, I/we are so grateful for having you back. Thank you.

I think it was fortuitous destiny that I arrived at Boston College at the same time that Modern Rock/NCP was born.

Fall of '81 I istarted at BC and immediately sought out the radio station, having no idea what I was getting in to. Psychedelic Regressions sarted in spring of '82.

Yes I was, although I was a devoted listener. It was Dave Smalley and his girlfriend (Ilisa Katz??) who got me involved

And Heidi Jaillet. They were all students in my popular culture class

AH...we gave Dave smally a 15 minute show after my show called the hardcore hour...because he would play more songs in 15 minutes that the rest of us would play in an hour!,

I know! I loved the concept of the 15 minute hardcore hour!
