Unlawful militias manage to be part of the political landscape while somehow escaping rigorous media scrutiny. Also on the show: Elite US news media have awards on their shelves for reporting based on WikiLeaks‘ revelations of war crimes and other malfeasance by the US government. But that has not translated to defense of Julian Assange, or even interest in his case—despite its unprecedented nature, and the implications it holds for all journalists who seek to reveal things the state would prefer hidden.

Reporter Ali Breland QAnon Is Infecting Congress: How the Wild Conspiracy Theory Went Mainstream
The Mother Jones Podcast MJ's latest podcast is available at its website motherjones.com 2020
This supposed explanation of Qanon throws around the phrase "conspiracy theory," mixed with junky music, rapid-fire setting changes, and razmatazz. We apologize. Here's its blurb: As recently as March, "QAnon" was still a mostly fringe phenomenon. The [so-called] conspiracy theory, which posits that a vast Democrat-led pedophile racket operates at the heart of the U.S. government, was well known among President Donald Trump's hardcore MAGA base, but too hot for anyone in the mainstream to touch. But this summer, the world's darkest and most outlandish [so-called] political conspiracy theory is gaining new adherents and influence among conservatives. ...

Host Jeff Schechtman Up Close and Personal with Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown
Who What Why Radio Available at WWW's website whowhatwhy.org 2020
Sherrod Brown still dreams of the time when America’s great debates were actually aired on the floor of the United States Senate. Because senators only had to face voters every six years, the founders viewed it as a vessel to cool passions, to try out ideas, and to accomplish big things. Today’s reality is, as we see every day, entirely different. Still, there are those like Brown, Ohio’s senior senator (D) — and our guest on this week’s WhoWhatWhy podcast — who rely on history as a springboard for what they hope will be a better future.

Host Michael Steven Smith Julian Assange Extradition Case Update
Law and Disorder Radio Available at L&D's website lawanddisorder.org 2020
Assange is being railroaded in the Old Bailey courthouse in London in an effort by US government, in collaboration with its British ally, to extradite Assange and send him to the federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia to be tried under the 1917 Espionage Act. Assange told the truth about American war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan back in 2010. He is 49 years old and in terrible mental and physical health. If he loses and is sent to the Eastern District of Virginia for trial and successfully prosecuted, which is a given, it will be the death of free journalism and a blow to the first amendment which is a keystone of our democracy because it involves the right to learn.

Marc Lamont Hill engages Khalidi in a 55-minute discussion of the concepts and claims in Khalidi's pathbreaking book. For a longer, extremely thorough talk by Khalidi alone, watch the video at https://youtu.be/yp1hxZMocS4. Explaining the book's title, the Balfour Declaration was issued in 1917, 100 years before Khalidi intended to finish this book. (It's still a hundred if you round to the nearest 10!) However, the first inklings of Zionist war against the people of Palestine were in 1899 or earlier. This is a webinar conversation sponsored by Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books, a community gathering center founded by Hill in the Germantown part of Philadelphia.

The Corbett Report Available at CR's podcast page corbettreport.com/category/podcasts/ 2020
9/11, as we were told repeatedly in the days, weeks, and months after the attack, was the day that changed everything. And now a new event has come along to once again throw the world into chaos. But whereas the post-9/11 era introduced America to the concept of homeland security, the COVID-19 era is introducing the world to an altogether more abstract concept: biosecurity. This is the story of the COVID-911 security state.

Author Niko Peled (Stan reading aloud) From Chapter 5: A Civil Matter
INJUSTICE: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five Among the thoughtful reviews of Peled's remarkable book off-guardian.org/2018/12/09/book-review-injustice-the-story-of-the-holy-land-foundation-five 2018
HLF's lawyer John Boyd, seething with anger and frustration, explains to Peled the US courts' countless prejudicial violations of law along with their own strict rules. Once HLF had been picked out as a convenient scapegoat for 9/11, It became clear that neither honesty nor the law meant anything to our federal government or its courts. They blow right past the rules, claiming that this is not a "normal" case, but one involving "national security." In later sections of the book, our government's corrupt behavior sends the HLF 5 to supermax prisons with sentences of 15 to 75 years.
