Yo RS - yep. I get all sucked in - every election as the most consequential ever.. until the next one. Are the stakes getting higher, or anxiety levels just up ?

@Jamie - yeah I'll post that election promo parody for anyone who want it. Along with my FCC friendly version of Wreckless Eric..

@Jeff, it's just the way to get the tribes all riled up. The election essentially changes nothing. It just makes people unhappier.

@RS i think that's the one positive of Trump. Racial issues that weren't being addressed now are. My teenage kid and all her friends now passionate about politics. Until now youth have been mostly apathetic - more interested in pop culture or spectator sports than world affairs. Trump has shocked us into a national reckoning.

So yeah, tribes riled up. Eventually things will settle down i hope.

I don't think that burning down neighborhoods is a particularly productive way to address racial issues. You're about the same age as me. Racial issues were being addressed for pretty much my entire lifetime. Much progress has already been made. Most of what I see is simply attempts to grab power. And no, it's not going to settle down as a result.

It's going to get worse. That's what the arc of our current history is pointing towards.

Thanks PC! @RS I think we have a once dominant culture in decline, and not going quietly (Trump supporters). Eventually they'll be marginalized as a new majority emerges that;s worldly, racially diverse, and with progressive social views.

have to disagree with your previous point RS - election of the current president definitely had material impact!
