Counterspin (regular weekly feature of TJR) Available at FAIR's website: fair.org/counterspin 2020
Blaming the left has been the practice of elite "center" Democrats and their media abettors for decades. Also on the show: The way politicians and pundits talk about โ€œelectoral issuesโ€ suggests they forget that behind โ€œissuesโ€ are real people with real problems. For millions of Americans, those problems include being out of work and out of healthcare in the midst of a pandemic and now, thanks to Senate Republicans, on track to lose what unemployment benefits they have been receiving. Josh Bivens of the Economic Policy Institute brings us an update.

This week our feature presentation is a re-broadcast of an interview shared with TWIP by the online video show The Arabic Hour. Moderator, local Palestinian activist, Nancy Murray, speaks with Palestinian activist, Nidal Al Azraq, and Black activist Ajamu Dillihunt focusing on the parallels between the Palestinian and Black struggles for freedom and equality. The conversation begins with Introductions by Nancy Murray. Regarding the audio distortion: No, it's not your radio! This flawed audio comes straight from arabichour.org, whose audio technician(s) we need to approach for change.

Stephen Gowans is the author of Israel, A Beachhead in the Middle East: From European Colony to US Power Projection Platform (2019); Patriots, Traitors and Empires: The Story of Korea's Struggle for Freedom (2018); and Washington's Long War on Syria (2017). Although the Syrian government has succeeded in regaining much of its territory in opposition to a foreign-backed regime-change campaign, it faces a sustained campaign of crippling U.S. sanctions. Gowans points out that despite Syrian military successes against Contras and terrorists, the U.S. is determined to prevent Syria from regaining its footing. What is needed is greater international campaigning for the lifting of sanctions on Syria and other countries.

Sea Change Radio, San Francisco nationally syndicated weekly radio show and podcast covering the shift to social, environmental, and economic sustainability (despite its name, NOT a source of radical thinking) Available at SC's website cchange.net 2020
The New York Times recently compiled a list of 104 environmental protections that the Trump administration has rolled back in four short years โ€” they include major climate policies as well as rules that ensured clean air and water, preserved wildlife, and regulated toxic chemicals. With the election of Joe Biden, however, many are hoping for a dramatic and immediate reversal. This week on Sea Change Radio, we unpack some of the key items on our environmental wishlist for the incoming Biden Administration with Mother Jones reporter Rebecca Leber. We talk about restoring our standing in the world by re-entering the Paris Climate Agreement, look at possible variations of a Green New Deal, and ponder what can be done with or without Democratic control of the Senate.
