Welcome to Low End Theory. If I were to describe the aesthetics of Low End Theory as a musical territory or space, its borders would be provided by doom/stoner/psych metal on one side, contemporary prog and prog metal on another, experimental/electronic/folk on a third, and enclosed finally by the long arc of classic and contemporary post-punk that bends towards dub. The mission of this radio show is to conjure a farrago of heavy sonic fictions of sound, words, and music appropriate and fitting to the heaviness of the times. But fear not, this Low End Theory is not dour or depressing; on the contrary, we seek out the joyful and ecstatic in the acoustic depths of the low end’s vibrating, pulsing heart. And who among us does not need some joy anchored in the deep sonority of the low end, especially now?

Well, hello!

I do remember your band, although not the occasion of our introduction. I was still drinking then and many of my memories of the that time are blurry, lol.

Was Danny Lea/Lee in that band as well?

Ah-ha! so my memory is not completely shot, lol

Classic Boston Modern Rock band. And pretty good too, as I remember

Whatever became of Danny?

He was a great drummer

You were the bass player in Cxema?

I love the new Cobalt Chapel

But my fave release of theirs is the album of remixes they did called Variants

very spooky

Do you remember a band that Danny also played drums for called The Bell People?

Or Deception Bay?

The guitarist for both bands was a guy named Jay Dunn

who I have been trying to locate ever since Facebook became a thing, but to no avail

Anyway, there were a bunch of really cool local bands like Cxema, Bell People, Green Magnet School

that really defined the Boston post-punk sound of the time
