I only spent the first 6 mos of life there while my dad got PhD from Pitt while working at Westinghouse and W-House Bettis Atomic. I was born at Magee Hospital. Not sure exact place we lived but from memory of photos now lost seems like area around Pitt

Yes. A year ago I went on a pilgrimage to see all the places I lived around there: Butler, Wheeling, Steubenville, and Allison Park. Very nostalgic.

I read more when I got back. The Mon is the 9th most polluted river in the world.

It was so polluted in the steel age..up until the 70's that if you hung your white's on the line to dry..they would be tan.

James, last time I saw the rivers from where the incline is, you could see a clear line where the Allegheny, Monongahela come together. Pollution or mud?

@ Pi...i little of both but in the case of The Mon...first it was steel chem and such and now it's fracking run off and such.

Also, the rivers are not deep and slow moving.

@ DK on the drive in and especially out..even in the country areas...a lot of smog. At least the days I was in Pitt. It was quite clear which I've heard is rare. From what I read winters in Pitt SUCK
