Fox News is a flagship of right-wing disinformation, racism and hatred, and Tucker Carlson is its figurehead. Carlson spews harmful nonsense like it’s his job, which it is, and he gets some $10 million a year from it—but did you know that, if you have cable, you’re paying into that income? Also: We talk with Lynn Parramore, at the Institute for New Economic Thinking, about how hedge funds get in the way of the big changes all kinds of companies need to make to fight climate disruption.

Stan (reading from published article) After Strong Backlash, NYPD Kicks Robotic Dog "Spot" to the Curb
Article 4-30-2021 by Kenny Stancil, published at https://www.commondreams.org/news/2021/04/30/after-strong-backlash-nypd-kicks-robotic-dog-spot-curb 2021
The New York City Police Department decided this week to stop leasing a robotic dog from Boston Dynamics following a sustained outcry from residents and lawmakers, who denounced the use of the high-tech, four-legged device in low-income neighborhoods as a misallocation of public resources and violation of civil liberties. When the NYPD acquired the K-9 machine last August, officials portrayed "Digidog"—the department's name for the camera-equipped, 70-pound robot—as "a futuristic tool that could go places that were too dangerous to send officers," the New York Times reported earlier this week. ...

Logging was to begin in a coast redwood forest in Mendocino County on the Pacific ocean that many of us believed was protected since it is owned by the State of California. ... Meanwhile something else is holding up the chainsaws, bulldozers and road builders that are ready to begin logging. The local tribe of Pomo Indians is intervening in the process since much of the Jackson Demonstration State Forest is on their ancestral land.

Neither of these speakers mince words. They get right down to the awful facts of Israel's lethal criminality against Palestinians. Also mentioned: the complicity of Israel's US facilitators, defenders, and funders, including Congress and the President. And finally, the timidity and cowardice of U.S. liberals.

Article 4-7-2021 by Abby Zimet published at https://www.commondreams.org/further/2021/04/27/killology-inc-americas-police 2021
The murders by cop go on - the latest, Lymond Moses, was asleep in his car - prompting furious calls for police reform from many weary of the carnage. Along with systemic racism, rabid militarization, fascist police unions, no accountability and infamously inadequate if not deranged training, we can thank messianic warrior-cop, uber fear-mongerer and "killology" expert Dave Grossman, a former Army ranger who for 20 years has traveled almost daily to every state in the blood-soaked union to offer popular police "trainings" to tell young acolytes they're "the royalty of this land" - alas, a war zone of thugs and terrorists where they must learn to fight back with "righteous violence," shoot first and think later ...
