Counterspin (regular weekly feature of TJR) Available at FAIR's website fair.org/counterspin 2021
US media consumers don’t have to puzzle out if Moïse’s assassins were Colombian, or if a Florida doctor bankrolled the plan, or if Moïse’s own bodyguards had it in for him and his wife. The thing is: “the world’s policeman” should NOT wade in again, it only causes harm. Also on the show: Cronyism between pharmaceutical companies and their ostensible government regulators is an infuriating fact of US life, along with the unsurprisingly obscene cost of drugs. Yet somehow the story of aducanumab takes it to a new level. We talk about what pharma and the FDA call a breakthrough Alzheimer’s drug, and what public advocates call an example of all that’s wrong with the FDA, with Michael Carome, M.D., director of the Health Research Group at Public Citizen.

Haitian authorities have arrested Dr. Christian Sanon as one of three suspects in the assassination of President Jovenel Möise. Sanon is one of a handful of Haitian Americans suspected of carrying out a brutal attack that left Möise fatally riddled with bullets and his wife Martine seriously injured. About 2 dozen Colombians have also been arrested in connection to the incident. Sanon was reportedly an informant for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency ...

Stan (reading a portion of an article) White House Grants Hunter Biden “A License to Swill”
Article 7-16-2021 by Steve Brown posted at https://covertactionmagazine.com/2021/07/16/white-house-grants-hunter-biden-a-license-to-swill/ 2021
Hunter Biden, second son of President Joe Biden, has taken up painting in order to, as he explained in a recent New York Times puff piece, “keep me sane.” But his new profession is designed to keep him wealthy, too. Georges Bergès, owner of the elegant Georges Bergès Gallery in New York’s tony Soho district, has announced that this October his entire gallery will be given over to a solo exhibition of Hunter Biden’s paintings. Hunter is a former lawyer and lobbyist with no art training who has never sold a single work in the commercial art market. But his paintings will be offered for sale at prices starting at “only” $75,000 for works on paper to $500,000 for larger canvasses, the gallery owner said.

Continuing from last week. We hear radio host and CN columnist John Kiriakou, who was imprisoned for blowing the whistle on the CIA’s torture program. Kiriakou recounts that his own imprisonment was much harsher than what the judge specified in his final ruling. The Bureau of Prisons claims it is exempt from any judge's ruling on level of imprisonment. Thus the DOJ's promise of less-cruel imprisonment of Assange is a cruel hoax.
