Like most college radio stations, WHRB was full of obsessives who loved to argue about music. Unlike most college radio stations, it aspired to academic rigor. Students hoping to join the punk-rock department, which controlled late-night programming, first had to take a semester-long unofficial class in punk-rock history. Never heard of WHRB. Are there some good sample WHRB shows on the web?

A long time ago WHRB featured Scottish punk bands as one of their orgies. The DJ played a set by The Ruts, who were all from the south of England. I called the DJ to say so but he said I was wrong (I grew up in England and met the Ruts a couple of times; they were fantastic live). So the rigorousness of their punk education is debatable.
