You will have heard many things recently about the supply chain—as the reason you can’t find what you’re looking for on store shelves, or the reason it costs so much. But what’s behind it all? Why has the system broken down in this way? Here’s where thoughtful journalism could fill us in, could educate on a set of issues that affects us all, including discussing alternatives. But corporate news media aren’t good at covering economic issues from the ground up, or asking big questions about who is served by current structures. You could say media’s reluctance to critically break down systems is itself a system problem.

Scientists agree: the first tipping big tipping point of climate change has already triggered in the Arctic. Extremely rapid warming, permafrost thaw, and disappearing sea ice have changed Earth’s energy balance to speed warming around the world. Most Arctic land and sea coast is found in Russia and Canada. In fact, about 40% of Canada is above the 60th parallel, but only about 120,000 people live there, the majority being aboriginal people. Thawing land is shifting, coastlines are changing, long-standing ways of life have changed there. To get more, we go to a 40 year resident and radio broadcaster in the Yukon Territory. Today we take a long critical look at the history and role of the Palestinian Authority (PA) as a militarized security agency working in collaboration with Israel to enforce the occupation and colonization of Palestine. Professor Joseph Massad, who has done extensive research on the PA, addresses the issue in an Electronic Intifada Podcast. Massad teaches modern Arab politics and intellectual history at Columbia University in New York. He is the author of several books, including Desiring Arabs and Islam and Liberalism. Phil interviews Tony Leah, Political Action Committee Chairperson, Unifor Local 222, about the article above, which Tony feels is excellent because it points out that the owner-operators who form the so-called "Freedom Convoy" aren't workers, but rather owner-operators, i.e. petit-bourgeois. One leader of the Freedom Convoy is actually the owner of a trucking firm. Most of the other leaders aren't "truckers" at all, but rather right wing political grifters. The article by Adam King highlights abuses by the owners of trucking companies, showing that 80% of all federal Labour Standards complaints come from the trucking industry. The victims are frequently immigrant and racialized workers.

Former president Donald Trump issued a statement Saturday suggesting that unnamed members of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign staff should be put to death. "The latest pleading from Special Counsel Robert Durham provides indisputable evidence that my campaign and presidency were spied on by operatives paid by the Hillary Clinton Campaign in an effort to develop a completely fabricated connection to Russia," Trump said in the statement from his Save America PAC. "This is a scandal far greater in scope and magnitude than Watergate and those who were involved in and knew about this spying operation should be subject to criminal prosecution. In a stronger period of time in our country, this crime would have been punishable by death. In addition, reparations should be paid to those in our country who have been damaged by this." ...
