Helpful history from NPR. I have heard that Russians view NATO's unilateral bombing of Kosovo the way we view Russia's fighting with Ukraine. The expansion of NATO missiles also seems like important context. The Cuban missile crisis shows how seriously the US took missiles near the US. Interestingly, Kennedy engaged in real diplomacy and secretly removed missiles from Italy and Turkey to resolve the crisis.

Good points, Fred. I stand with Ukraine, but it's not a simple good guy/bad guy situation.

@Verb Crunch - I lived in Russia and trust me, the idea of Ukraine being separate was nearly always met with derision, so hardly surprised that Putin decided to do what he did.

Yeah - just like with any war its not all cut and dried. I don't support Putin's invasion, but I also don't support antisemitism and unfortunately the latter seem to have been rising lately.

completely agree, 100% against Putin's invasion. Just trying to understand what led to this terrible situation and the US/NATO's role.
