Counterspin (regular weekly feature of TJR) Available at FAIR's website fair.org/counterspin 2022
The Buffalo killer is a white supremacist who believes there’s a plot run by Jews to “replace” white people with Black and brown people. A press corps that wanted to go down in history as doing better than pretending to raise questions about the “soul of America” would be busy interrogating the structural, economic, political relationships that promote and platform white supremacy. They’d be using their immense and specific influence to interrupt business as usual, to demand—not just today, but tomorrow and the next day—meaningful response from powerful people. They would not be accepting that mass murder in the name of white supremacy and antisemitism is just another news story to report in 2022 America, film at 11.

From the TUC Radio Archives, Feb. March 2015 – The New York Academy of Medicine In his 2013 book: Nuclear War and Environmental Catastrophe, Noam Chomsky warned that we are facing “two problems for our species survival — nuclear war and environmental catastrophe.” Up to this point in history problems caused by humans were regional. However just in the last few decades climate change and nuclear war have become a threat to all life.

Science discovers wonders in the universe, but sometimes horrors here on Earth. About 251 million years ago, up to 90% of living things in the ocean died off. We call it the “Great Dying” and global warming did it. Scientists estimate the world warmed about 10 degrees C in that mass extinction event. On our current course of business as usual, new science shows, mass die-off in the seas is likely to happen again!

The assassination of Shireen has shaken the Palestinian world. For 25 years she was on television in every Palestinian home reporting for Al Jazeera News Service from the hot spots of the Israeli occupation. Seemingly everyone knew Shireen; she was a trusted voice reporting the news day in and day out. Responding to her death, the popular Al Jazeera news program, The Stream, featured a forum on Shireen and her work. It reflected the love and admiration of Shireen’s friends and colleagues. the most extensive US coverage of Shireen’s assassination was by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now: she invited Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi to set in context our loss of Shireen.
