Don't remember the coffee...remember eating there and seeing too many big haired ladies in animal prints wearing too much makeup and gold...

The Channel keeps coming up lately. I was talking with some people about it this week. I was lucky enough to not only see great shows (Ramones were a highlight ) there but got to play it a few times in my band . It had a great stage

Now it's being made into GE headquarters

WSD were winners of the vaunted Framingham State College Battle of the Bands -and not much else . The Feldmans we actually had singles and one of them won the Boston Phoenix Demo Derby. I think James found one in ZBC archives

Regarding the influence of The Fall on other bands, I have always felt that they had the biggest influence on bands coming from Boston. What do you think?

@DJ Simon -its written a bit dry but there is a lot in it . Interesting side note is the new show "Mrs Maisel " takes place in the same period as the book and there has been a little historically accurate overlap between the show and the book

the Z is the best radio station in Boston!!!

@Roger - Funny, just started watching Mrs. Maisel last weekend.

I got the book for Xmas from my wife and just started that show about a week ago . Recommend both

no it wasnt Swans ..oh well. He was always listening to it on vinyl when we arrived to rehearse with the Malingerers . It was sort of like Swans but more melodic . I think the name began with a W

Regarding the Steak Place, I don't think there's any definitive proof that it was the Hilltop. A gigography visitor once assured me it was a long-gone steakhouse in Newton, but who knows. Maybe Brix will remember - I'll try to find out.
