In these confused times isn't it nice to find some relief? Every week, James will try to bring some sense into this crazy world via the radio waves. Look back. Look forward. Seek the truth. Never dull. Always irreverent. Fight the good fight by just sitting back and listening.

DJ Simon 8:48:42 AM
Good day sir. Sorry about the confusion - 8-10 was a typo in my text. The new show is 8-9.
DJ Simon 8:49:06 AM
I sent a subsequent text but I think it was after you were off the grid.
James (host) 8:54:40 AM
There is no show before me in the grid I see
DJ Simon 8:55:47 AM
It must have dropped off today's schedule because they didn't start a playlist. Look at next week.
James (host) 8:55:55 AM
The way the sched has been going...I easy to not doubt that disregard.
DJ Simon 9:03:15 AM
Anyhow, I didn't mean to contribute to the misinformation cloud. Hey – good Fall rockin' this morning. TGIKOTJF

yep. My parents used to get all their ground up mammals there. And they loved the coffee
James (host) 10:22:14 AM
Still not going to be enough time....
PiGuy 10:23:37 AM
Don't remember the coffee...remember eating there and seeing too many big haired ladies in animal prints wearing too much makeup and gold...
James (host) 10:23:38 AM
I will continue the chronological discography where I leave off in in the coming post-concert report tributes...
Roger (Mooseleader) 10:24:34 AM
yeah the clientele looked like scenes from Good Fellas
James (host) 10:24:46 AM
I ate there once. Never again. DJ Simon went to The Stockyard. Never been there. Both seem like the high-ball and smoking while eating atmosphere

James (host) 10:37:38 AM
Mark E.'s March 5, 1957. My dad was 25
Roger (Mooseleader) 10:38:22 AM
The Channel keeps coming up lately. I was talking with some people about it this week. I was lucky enough to not only see great shows (Ramones were a highlight ) there but got to play it a few times in my band . It had a great stage
James (host) 10:39:36 AM
Now it's being made into GE headquarters
John Fisher 10:39:43 AM
crap....I wanted to have something in common. My dad died Feb 10th, on his mother's birthday, (my gran ma ma), and MY BIRTHDAY. (cue scary music)
Uncle Ash 10:45:23 AM

James (host) 10:51:29 AM
Glam what???
John Fisher 10:51:55 AM
Roger, what band were you in? I played the Channel too. Still have the contract from 1988.
Roger (Mooseleader) 10:55:09 AM
the Channel days I was in aband called Watership Down , followed by The Feldmans
James (host) 10:55:50 AM
Watership had a "rabbit" fan base
bruckner4 10:55:59 AM

nah...possibly.
bruckner4 10:58:59 AM
love those '93 '94 records.
Roger (Mooseleader) 10:59:38 AM
WSD were winners of the vaunted Framingham State College Battle of the Bands -and not much else . The Feldmans we actually had singles and one of them won the Boston Phoenix Demo Derby. I think James found one in ZBC archives

Roger (Mooseleader) 11:06:42 AM
great book I am reading about the scene that gave rise to the VU and many others
DJ Simon 11:11:27 AM
@Roger - I just got that book. Haven't started it yet though.
raoulvanhorn 11:11:46 AM
Hi James -- so The Steak Place is really about the Hilltop?!? Where did you learn that?
James (host) 11:14:12 AM
It's well-known and worn lore. Check lyrics: https://genius.com/The-fall-the-steak-place-lyrics
raoulvanhorn 11:17:43 AM
Yup -- it does sound like the place. Thanks!
James (host) 11:19:08 AM
Seems to insinuate he was in a fight there.
F.A. Meyer 11:20:44 AM
Regarding the influence of The Fall on other bands, I have always felt that they had the biggest influence on bands coming from Boston. What do you think?
James (host) 11:21:21 AM
Mark E thinks the Pixies blatantly ripped him off
James (host) 11:25:51 AM
The Fall doing Zappa Two'fer
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:28:03 AM
@DJ Simon -its written a bit dry but there is a lot in it . Interesting side note is the new show "Mrs Maisel " takes place in the same period as the book and there has been a little historically accurate overlap between the show and the book
brbuild 11:28:13 AM
the Z is the best radio station in Boston!!!
DJ Simon 11:29:08 AM
@Roger - Funny, just started watching Mrs. Maisel last weekend.
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:30:10 AM
I got the book for Xmas from my wife and just started that show about a week ago . Recommend both
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:31:00 AM
reading it has made me realize how much underground art and music we seem to have lost -or maybe I am just old now
brbuild 11:31:20 AM
I did, first song I ever heard on the Z was definitive gaze, Magazine. 1978
PiGuy 11:33:28 AM
Maybe James needs to start hosting a book club, for readers not necessarily writers.
raoulvanhorn 11:39:49 AM
I concur about Dr. Buck's Letter. One of the best.
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:48:19 AM
James there was a band George really liked and i cant remember the name. The guy was actually a born again Christian and the songs had a lot of religious imagery. Ring any bells?
James (host) 11:48:34 AM
Low?
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:50:45 AM
hmm no I dont think so
brbuild 11:50:55 AM
how about skipping DN and keep this going...
James (host) 11:51:09 AM
Swans...not christian
James (host) 11:51:37 AM
Please...if only I could skip Depress Me Now
James (host) 11:51:51 AM
I think next year it should be an all day show.
brbuild 11:52:55 AM
why the wait? the future is now!
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:55:17 AM
no it wasnt Swans ..oh well. He was always listening to it on vinyl when we arrived to rehearse with the Malingerers . It was sort of like Swans but more melodic . I think the name began with a W
James (host) 11:56:10 AM
No future is now. Hold on. Now. No now
Roger (Mooseleader) 11:57:07 AM
James could have a satellite radio show that is all Fall.
Stefan Cooke 12:04:22 PM
Regarding the Steak Place, I don't think there's any definitive proof that it was the Hilltop. A gigography visitor once assured me it was a long-gone steakhouse in Newton, but who knows. Maybe Brix will remember - I'll try to find out.
James (host) 12:06:33 PM
Fantastic Stefan!
