When Rupert Read first appeared on TUC Radio with his talk: This Civilization is Finished – So what is to be done – he drew a huge response. Here is a professor and well established intellectual who risks arrest in his association with the Extinction Rebellion climate change movement in England. XR use civil disobedience to make governments, and really everyone, declare climate change emergencies and act on them.

When forests are logged or burned – carbon floods into the atmosphere. But that is not the end of it. The loss continues for decades as a significant factor in climate change. In fact, a new paper from a young Australian scientist says experts and planners underestimate the true costs of hacking into tropical rainforests by a stunning 626 percent. The damage to the atmosphere is six times greater than previously thought.

Host John Roberts Phyllis Bennis presents a historical review of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict
This Week In Palestine (award-winning exclusive weekly feature of TJR) For a description or download of this or any week's edition of T.W.I.P., go to TJR's website truthandjusticeradio.org 2019
Bennis minces no words in this genuinely historical review, starting BEFORE the 1917 Balfour Declaration and running to the shameful present. She points out that USA support for the formation of Israel was fueled by antisemitism, including turning away ships loaded with Jewish refugees during the Hitler era. She describes the USA's fraudulent role as mediator of the "peace process" and its disastrous effects on Palestinians' struggle to survive. Bennis is a fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies and author of numerous important books and articles. To learn more, go to https://ips-dc.org/ips-authors/phyllis-bennis/ .

Former host Stan Robinson (reading) Help stop the sale of Public Interest Registry to a Private Equity Firm
An open letter to officials involved with the management and protection of the .org domain For text and links, go to SDO's website savedotorg.org 2019
A growing list of organizations is urging the Internet Society (ISOC) to stop the sale of the Public Interest Registry (PIR)—the organization that manages the .ORG top-level domain—to the brand-new private equity firm Ethos Capital. Our message is clear: the NGO community should have a voice in decisions affecting the future of .ORG. ... UPDATE: the $1.1 billion sale agreement was signed, despite 99% community opposition. Wikipedia's post says "there is some concern about self-dealing." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethos_Capital

Host Jeff Schectman interviewing longtime fashion and style journalist Dana Thomas Clothing Is the New Plastic: far too many clothes in the world, all produced in horrible working conditions
Radio Who What Why (recent very special entry into TJR's repertoire) Available at WWW's website whowhatwhy.org 2019
Thomas points out that over 100 billion pieces of clothing are manufactured each year, but only 80 billion are ever sold, and much of that is quickly discarded. The waste is burned or ends up in the world’s landfills. Moreover, the synthetic fabric of most clothes is plastic-based and nonbiodegradable; some plastic microfibers have even been found in rainfall around the world. In order to produce today’s extremely cheap, disposable clothing, the supply chain is so fractured that even an item that says “Made in Italy” may have had only the buttons sewn on there, while the garment may have been manufactured in a sweatshop in Bangladesh.

Host David Swanson (alone) Impeachment: Do It Right, Or Don’t Do It
Talk Nation Radio (one of TJR's treasured sources) Available at TNR's website talknationradio.org 2019
According to this show's website, Swanson calls this piece his "rant" on impeachment! There are at least 25 good solid reasons for impeachment, but Congress is so incredibly timid and/or risk averse that it sticks to just one (the Ukraine aid deal).
