Label name is a text field that stores the name of the record label that published the disk. It is optional.
Music fans are frequently very interested a disk's label as this is a strong indicator of aesthetic qualities. When someone likes a given song, that person is often interested to find what else has been released by that label. In addition, Spinitron allows listeners to browse the music database by label.
Label name may be disabled, in which case its input field disappears from the data entry form and the Spinitron features that use it, such as searching or browsing by label, cease to function.
CAUTION. Label name is a required field for SoundExchange and some other compliance reporting.
You can make Label name a mandatory field, in which case DJs cannot submit the playlist entry form if the Label name field is left blank. This might be valuable for stations during their SoundExchange quarterly reporting periods.
