About CSV and TSV files
CSV means Comma Separated Values. CSV files are used for storing tables of data. You can share data among Spinitron and other computer programs using CSV files. Programs that can import and export CSV files include Microsoft Excel, FileMaker, OpenOffice, Google Docs Spreadsheet, among many others.
TSV means Tab Separated Values and, apart for the field separator, is equivalent to CSV. Spinitron can use either TSV or CSV. For simplicity we often mention only the more common CSV in documentation.
Spinitron can use CSV files for the following features:
- Import and export of playlists
- Exporting search results
- CSV is a file format option for emailing playlists as attachments
- Import and export data to/from your station's music database
You have to prepare your CSV file by exporting the data from another program as a CSV file. For example, in Microsoft Excel, you have to use File: Save As... and then choose CSV as the file format in the Save As dialog. Spinitron can't understand native Excel files.
