Festival Focus gets things rolling with a KSUT Session that Dave Alvin did back in 2008. Then, during the second hour's Americana Jukebox, Chris spins new music by Old 97's, Jim Lauderdale, Sierra Ferrell, and more.

We remember the late, great Richard Manuel of The Band during the first hour, with songs by The Band, Bob Dylan, and solo projects from members of The Band. Full Cord begins the night with a Festival Focus from the 2023 Pagosa Folk'n Bluegrass. During the second hour, the Americana Jukebox will feature new music by Taj Mahal, Cody Jinks, and Kimmi Bitter.

He also remembers the late, great guitarist Donald Kinsey of The Kinsey Report. Donald, who was also a guitarist for Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Albert King, died earlier this month. The second hour's Americana Jukebox includes new music by Tyler Childers, Jaime Wyatt, and Mary Gauthier.

During the first hour, we'll continue with our Black History Month celebration, this time kicking off with a live set from War & Pierce, recorded at the 2022 Four Corners Folk Festival. Then in the second hour, we'll remember alt-country pioneer and outlaw country DJ Mojo Nixon, who died last week at the age of 66 on the Outlaw Country Cruise.

We'll hear from artists such as Adia Victoria, Dom Flemons, and Lizzie No during the rest of the first hour. During the second hour's Americana Jukebox, we'll hear new music from the likes of Zach Bryan, Lonesome Joy, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, and others. Plus, old favorites by Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, Alison Krauss, Garth Brooks, and Little Feat.

Host Chris Aaland treks to the Magnolia State during the first hour of tonight's Tales of the New West to celebrate harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite's 80th birthday. We'll hear from Elvis Presley, Jimmie Rodgers, Bobbie Gentry, and many more Mississippi natives. One of them, Marty Stuart, kicks off the show with a Festival Focus that revisits his KSUT Session with his band, The Fabulous Superlatives, recorded back on May 17, 2006. Then, during the second hour, we'll crank up the Americana Jukebox for new music by Charley Crockett, The Black Pumas, Missy Raines & Allegheny, plus old favorites by Hank Williams, Roy Orbison, and Darrell Scott.

We're less than three weeks from Fat Tuesday ... And it's Aaron Neville's 83rd birthday! So host Chris Aaland spends the first hour in New Orleans, with music by The Neville Brothers, BeauSoleil, Dr. John, and many more. Festival Focus starts the night right with The New Orleans Suspects from KSUT's 2013 Party in the Park. During the second hour, Chris cranks the Americana Jukebox for new music by Brit Taylor, Amos Lee, Jaime Wyatt, and more.

Host Chris Aaland travels down the Hillbilly Highway on Steve Earle's 69th birthday tonight, with music from Steve and friends of his such as Emmylou Harris, Robert Earl Keen, and Margo Price. The night gets rolling with another Texan, Katy Moffatt, and highlights from her KSUT Session back in 2005. The second hour's Americana Jukebox features new music and old favorites by the likes of Van Morrison, Logan Ledger, Allison Russell, and The Dead South.

We'll celebrate a host of musical birthdays throughout tonight's Tales of the New West, including alt-country/indie rocker Alejandro Escovedo (73), singer/songwriter Valerie June (42), the late folk-rock icon Jim Croce (81), rock legend Rod Stewart (79), the late bluesman Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater (89), the late bluegrass ambassador James Reams (66), guitarist Curt Kirkwood of Meat Puppets (65), and Steely Dan's Donald Fagen (76).

It's our annual Tales of the New West Holiday Jubilee, with two hours of songs of the season from a variety of eras and genres. Festival Focus starts the night out right with Bar D Wranglers' KSUT Session from Dec. 13, 2017 ... right before they played their annual Christmas Jubilee at the Community Concert Hall. Lo and behold, the Bar D Wranglers take the stage at the Concert Hall tonight at 7:30 p.m., so this encore set will be a primer of sorts.

On tonight's show, host Chris Aaland remembers Shane MacGowan of The Pogues during the first hour, and Scott Kempner of The Del Lords and The Dictators in the second. That means plenty of Celtic and neo-punk in the first hour, including a Festival Focus featuring JigJam from the 2022 Four Corners Folk Festival. The second hour is full of '80s roots rock, alt-country and punk.

It's Tish Hinojosa's birthday today, so we'll celebrate during the first hour by featuring music from San Antonio artists ... from singer/songwriters like Tish, Rosie Flores, and Pat Green to band that incorporated Tex-Mex and conjunto like the Sir Douglas Quintet, Los Texmaniacs, and Texas Tornados. The show starts, though, with one of our favorite bands from last fall's Four Corners Folk Festival - Damn Tall Buildings. In the second horu, we'll crank up the Americana Jukebox for new music by Mamma Coal, Della Mae, and Todd Snider.

Host Chris Aaland travels to the Bluegrass State on tonight's show, where he'll celebrate the 106th anniversary of the birth of legendary guitarist and songwriter Merle Travis. We'll hear from dozens of native Kentuckians, including Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton. We'll start the night by concluding our monthlong celebration of Native American Heritage Month, this time with live cuts that Cary Morin & Ghost Dog performed for us at the 15th annual Pagosa Folk N' Bluegrass Festival in 2022.
