Mondo Jazz

Wed 10.00PM–12.00AM

Mondo Jazz is dedicated to the proposition that jazz is a language that originated in the US but is now spoken all over the world in various, at times very strong, accents and dialects, which make it a rich resource for rewarding sonic explorations. Needless to say there will be plenty of US jazz on my program, in an attempt to show the continuity that exists between the US and the international jazz scenes.

good night guys

9:38pm   nivlaC

That's awesome

9:38pm   nivlaC

9:37pm   Headcase

Oh yeah I love discovering stuff through Hip-Hop samples

9:35pm   Mike Joseph (host)

The Lox sampled it too

9:32pm   Headcase

Oh I recognize this as the sample on Nas' "You Wouldn't Understand" from his "Life is Good" album

9:31pm   Mike Joseph (host)

oh really???

9:31pm   nivlaC

This Candyman track is a new one on me

9:23pm   Mike Joseph (host)

i still have to check that show out

9:23pm   Headcase

Sembello. Damn auto correct

9:21pm   Headcase

Again, I would have never known that Michael Sembeo played backup for Stevie if it wasn't for Todd in the Shadows' "One Hit Wonderland" show. I know I bring it up all the time, but I've learned a LOT of interesting stuff from it

9:15pm   Headcase

Oh yeah definitely, lol

8:58pm   Mike Joseph (host) win

8:56pm   Headcase

Yeah that's definitely Mariah

8:19pm   Mike Joseph (host)

8:18pm   Headcase

Oh yeah, ICP did a lot of weird shit. They had a covers album a few years ago where they covered stuff like Geto Boys and NWA, but also "State of Shock" and Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful." It's as awul as you can imagine

8:17pm   Mike Joseph (host)

8:17pm   nivlaC

*sang this

8:16pm   nivlaC

Part of me feels like I should've known Mariah Carey same this as a cover and not an original.

8:16pm   Mike Joseph (host)

heh...yeah i know ICP, just find it weird that they did a cover of that song

8:15pm   Headcase

Yep. I wasn't a fan of ICP, but I was into Kid Rock and Eminem, so I had to be at least a little familiar with them. You know, Detroit being the "white rap captial of the world" or some such shit

8:11pm   Mike Joseph (host)

8:10pm   Headcase

Sad to say I was first familiar with this song from the shitty cover that the Insane Clown Posse did of it in the late 90s lol

8:06pm   Mike Joseph (host)

thanks buddy

8:05pm   Headcase
