Went to a great bluegrass fest right next to railroad tracks. All these great songs playing for 3 - 4 days often about trains or trains in lyrics. And every hour or more... a train would pass right by and blow the horn! Love it

Thanks, Brian D -- and, yes, Readie, I've been to DelFest (hosted by the Del McCoury Band) a few times. Certainly remembered the train tracks close by. Being in the Maryland-West Virginia area, lots of trains run by CSX (the old Chesapeake & Ohio railroad) rolled by!

Yeah, and the Folk Fest too. One of the last times I went I met Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary- it was a thrill-their music was soundtrack of my infancy.

And also David Amram- a hero of mine as well

One thing that makes DelFest so much fun ... it attracts the tie-dye audiences who got into bluegrass via Jerry Garcia (who was a good & serious 5-string banjo picker). And to them, total straight-arrow guitarist/ lead singer & b.g. veteran Del McCoury is a bleepin' ROCK STAR!!! I'd compare it to Tony Bennett becoming a huge fav on MTV in the latter part of his career. Both Del and Tony make timless music even if it's not rock, they're awesome genuinely nice people! Young listeners respond to it
