I was able to get my cd at Amoeba's in Hollywood last year

I would've preferred vinyl, but they didn't have a copy

So I settled for the inferior format...haha!

I've been looking on Discogs and that website named after a major river in South America, and the vinyl copies of most everything cost WAY more than the CD versions.

I'd imagine that to be true Dave! Vinyl rules!

They've got you vinyl junkies over a barrel because of it's novelty appeal!

Because it's a better format Dave...haha!

It used to be that way with CDs back in the '80s: they were a new novelty, and the price was way higher. But then the prices finally settled down.

The warmth of vinyl, the cover artwork, I don't love digital like I love analog sound

I'll even take the snap, crackle and pop of vinyl over digital cds

With a sample rate of 40,000 to 1, their leaving out a tremendous amount of signal, I still have some half speed recordings I can't listen to anymore (no equipment)

It's about compression of the audio effecting sound quality. Right? The richness of vinyl doesn't compare to the convenience of CDs or obviously digital. That's how I understand the situation.

CDs: No surface noise, the potential for numerous bonus tracks, takes up less space. Vinyl: snap-crackle-pop, sound quality deteriorates sooner with constant play, those annoying "record rings" that form on the outer cover when pressed up against other records, etc.

Minor distractions Dave! Cds skip and when they do on my show, I can't help it along like a skipping record

If you don't get fingerprints all over the playing surface, and you keep your CD player relatively clean, there should be no problem with play.

They do damage Dave, not like the record companies tried to have us believe, that they would last forever!

And if it weren't for CDs, you might not even have a world show. It looks to me like almost everything you play on this show is from CDs

I don't know about that. I've had some of my CDs for over 30 years now, and they still play just fine.

Well, to each his own. I'll agree, vinyl is still pretty cool, but I still love CDs.

I have vinyl lps that I play on my boss guy show that are over 50 years old and they still play fine Dave!

The novelty of vinyl is a separate factor. And I see the value in that too. The aspects of the audio argument of vinyl versus CDs versus digital is not for those of us without the knowledge or the ear for it. It's over my pay grade! With that, we can learn the difference and be able to educate our ear, yet mostly it'll be about personal preference. I'll buy what works best for me and from Amazon if I want to and y'all need to get your music anyway you can too!!

I don't think it really matters about the format, as long as you're listening to music you love!
